Can somebody please help me with vegas

Okay i go into vegas and i try to play a clip, any clip and it comes up with : An error occurred while starting playback.
The device specified is in use.

So, i click on details and it says:
The playback device Microsoft Sound Mapper does not exist.

Can somebody please helP!

Close all Media players and reinstall your audio codec...

ummm ive reinstalled vegas and ive closed all players but i dont know what my audio codec is

Download a program called Everest Home Edition and check there...
