Winter in ICELAND from above - kert
« on: May 22, 2016, 06:23:54 AM »
What?? A new video from Kert? Damn right, using the most realistic game there is. Not GTA I'm afraid, though there are some follow-shots while driving.

But seriously I just wanted to share this. It's a short video/film of a recent trip I did to Iceland. My goal was to capture it from above as we went around the whole Island during a few weeks of winter. Also we just wanted to go on a photography mission.

Conditions were pretty harsh at times, very variable weather but that's what we expected. We did get loads of sunny days which were amazing. Iceland is amazing, super diverse and it looked nothing like I had seen from photos that were taken during summer. I am definitely going back at one point.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this project of mine and perhaps it serves as some sort of inspiration to some who are thinking of travelling there. Just go if you can. I share photos of past and current travels on my Instagram, if any of you are interested to follow along.

Kert 😘

What was it shot with, some sort of drone like a DJI Phantom? I think my PC would melt if I tried to view it in 4k but the 1080/1440p options looked great, some beautiful shots in there to the point certain parts didn't even look real! How do you fund all this travelling etc, just a shit ton of saving and just hoping for the best?

Didn't know you skated too, bet you get to hit some crazy spots on your travels! Would def recommend giving this part a watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BijgpzqvsKc

The stunts are old by me. Shitty editing with even worse camera angles. 69/420 :Disgusted:

No but sereriously, amazing video man. Those are some amazing shots. The quality was amazing. How did you record it? Gopro and a drone? It definitely deserves way more views. Sharing with my mates right now. ;)

Thanks!! Yes, I used the Phantom 3 Pro for this. Seems to be perfect for travelling, compact and easy to hike into places. Planning to upgrade to the Inspire series at one point, they got some amazing camera options there, even RAW video etc.

Funding my travels - I work! Hah! That's the secret really. Ok to be honest I was on a long trip thing for 3 years. Spent 2 years in Australia travelling and working to save up to do some more travelling. That's how I managed to go around the world. Came back to Estonia because at one point you run out of money. So now I have a full time job and my trips currently are not as long and as often as they used to be but I try to make the most of it. It just depends on what you value, for me it's about the experiences. Also, travelling is not as expensive as you might think. If you look around a bit for good deals you might find flights that are ridiculously cheap. Also travelling with a few friends helps with sharing the costs of car rentals and accommodation etc.

I do skate yes, for about 13 years now or something. It has always been for fun. Yeah I usually try to have my board with me, visiting certain places I usually try to check out well known spots from videos and realize how insane they actually look in real life. I saw that part, some good stuff in there!

Thanks man!! Those are good shots!

Amazing, this is why I try to share stuff! Thank you. I will share more in the future for sure.

Nice man! Definitely share it if you enjoyed it! Huge part of why I enjoy photography and travelling is being able to share the experience.

Love it!

Thank you very much Max! Yeah I was there with a buddy of mine and my brother. We all enjoy photography/work with photography so we wanted to combine forces and do a mission over to Iceland. It was on my list for ages.

Much appreciated! Highly recommend visiting, even for a week.

Amazing footage!

Thanks all of you for the positive vibes. Love it!
