Opinions on GTA V (online) / Mods for GTA V ?
« on: May 15, 2015, 12:25:49 AM »
Sup?

Felt like playing GTA again. While VC is IMO the game that really defines GTA Stunting and no other successor can compare to it, it feels too much like getting together with an ex-girlfriend that you know inside out and who has nothing more to offer, so I jumped straight to GTA V. The reviews this game got since its launch have been exceptional, so my expectations were also high.

Playing through the story was a cool experience, but I don't really know what I'm supposed to do online? Just make money and buy better cars and shit? I'd really like to know what the old dawgs here, or people with a lot of experience in the GTA series think about GTA V Online? To me it just seems that a game like this isn't meant to be played online. Maybe it's because I've been playing competitive games like CS, Quake and WoW during the past 6 years. Stunting together with your mates seems like a cool idea, but everytime I log on to the servers there's just bunch of kids with all the best gear and cars, chasing and shooting everyone with rocket launchers and stuff.

GTA 1 and 2 were cool with their idea of being able to steal cars, roam freely in a city, kill people etc. GTA 3 was amazing with it's 3D graphics, VC with its bikes, planes and helicopters, SA with its big map, but since then I don't think the series have had that much new stuff to offer. It's more or less the same things with a new story, new game engine, better graphics, etc. What y'all think?

Also, where can I find a list of the most useful mods for stunting in this game? I heard that there's a function in the game which has the same benefits as Dannyes main.scm, but is nothing else really needed?

First, you need to do races (refer to the GTA V Basics page on tutorials) to upgrade your bike. Do missions (online) and heists to earn money so you can buy a Hakuchou, Ruffian and Bati. Then, head to creator -> create a race and make a race where you want the stunt to be. Save the race after testing and head to GTA:O. Press ESC and click on jobs and click on My Jobs or something and select the race you made. Press f2 to start action Replay and you're good to do. It automatically sends you back to your last checkpoint when you bail too.

First of all you might want to read this fully (not sure if some of the less correct info was changed already but 99% is probably right): http://www.gtastunting.net/index.php?topic=67844.0

Also good to see you around  :ajaja: To answer your post, I rarely play single player, but then again all I do is stunt or play heists. If you want to stunt with people you shoulden't go into random online sessions, people will interrupt what you are trying every single time, a lesson which I learned in VCMP  :P Most of the sync stunts you see done that contain 2 or more categories of vehicles (atleast in our videos) are done in deathmatches where we spawn a huge number of vehicles and get on with it. Solo stunts are usually done in normal online races we created ourselves. Those two render mods useless pretty much, apart from a slight teleport speed improvement. So there is no list of useful mods. To sum up all the shit I didn't write yet: GTA:O is awesome. Although I can imagine it can get boring if you play alone, which is the case for nearly every MP game.

I'll give you the fact VC still defines stunting (imo), and depending on how long your break in stunting was there still might be some new stuff for you to discover, but I would advise you to check out V more indepth, it's (rather) new and things keep getting discovered. Afterall the true thing that makes GTA survive for so long compared to other games is not the story, it's the fact that they give us a giant ass playground every time, not just for stunting.

Thanks dark and Rainbow for pointing me in the right direction. Looks like I started off on the wrong foot, trying to stunt in random MP sessions. I'll definitely try the deathmatches at least.

It's hard to get my head around the fact that no mods whatsoever are needed. At least this is a positive thing about the game. It's also something that will make stunting become more mainstream, as everything you need is there available for everyone.

I quess I'll have to wake up some of my old GTAS friends from hibernation, so I don't have to wander around the servers by myself. :P

Ahh. VC was (and is) just so perfect. It just requires a shit load of imagination to come up with something new in it, after the game being out for close to 13 years. Darn, I didn't even know people seriously tried to stunt in VCMP. :)
