New PC Build
« on: July 21, 2011, 05:45:20 AM »
Okay, so I'm building the gf a gaming PC for her birthday, and need a little help with parts and stuff.  The whole thing should ideally be under £350 (€400, $550 USD), and be able to run games on a 19".

Had a couple of parts in mind as listed below, but would like some input into mobo and possibly gfx card.

CPU: AMD 955 Black AM3 socket
2x2GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
Single slot Radeon HD 5770 1GB
Mobo: ???

And case and other stuff as well, but thats the general idea.  So a mobo under about £60 would be perfect, thanks for the help :).

This is just a little over your price mark http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?sort=3d&products_id=45409

Oh and $90 AUD is roughly equal to your GBP.

Hey I have the same specs :P you shouldn't be cheap on MB, you could safe some money on the memories, Phenoms 2 use only 1333 MHz out of it... unless you will decrease the frequency and timing. I had a 350W PSU for half a year, then it started to burn a bit, but it was very old  you should be fine with such a PSU. Considering which kind of games would be played on it, isn't more suitable for it a better GPU (but then you'd have to get better PSU :D)? I have a 5770 and I can't wait to get rid of her  also you can't overclock much with the BOX cooler, so you may get some more efficient one.
