Heavy Metal
« on: April 18, 2010, 08:18:08 AM »
I just thought I'd quote something Willzyyy posted in TGTAZ forum.

"Hi guys, I'm on a mission to get heavy metal (mainly that fantatsic 80s hard rock) back into the charts!
Forget that 30 Seconds To Mars, Blink 182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Alien Ant Farm and Kids In Glass Houses crap!

We need these bands back into the official charts:
Alice In Chains
Dokken
DevilDriver
Metallica (earlier stuff from their 80s albums)
Queensryche
Ratt

etc...

Vote for them on Kerrange!, Scuzz, and make youtube videos to help move votes along!

Together, we can destroy shit, amature "rock" and wipe gangsta crap of the face of the planet!
Please reply with your ideas!"

thanks ~ Will

Agreed.
I recommend Devin Townsend Project, Cult of Luna, Machinae Supremacy etc. Not heavy metal but quality music.

Queensryche aren't too bad mayne.

Devin townsend, Dream Theater, between the burried and me *some good songs*, Ill nino, Kamelot, Killswitch engage *some good songs*, LAMB OF MOTHER FUCKING GOD BABY!, Linkin park *some of their earlier stuff was pretty alright*, mercenary *not bad*, meshuggah *very heavy but not too bad*, necrophagist *sooo sooo heavy but still decent*, Mutiny Within, Pagan's Mind, Road Runner United, Skindred, Strapping young lad, Symphony X,

You seriously think that's gonna work?

Radio, TV and all that stuff just plays what the majority of the audience wants, which is easy-to-digest music. They want stuff the can bob their heads to without thinking, catchy tunes that easily stick in your head. Not the whole "heavy metal" thing.

Not everybody likes so-called "catchy tunes" X, but I catch your drift.

Personally I think the eithies was a horrible decade for just about everything... especially music and filmmaking, 80s metal to me sounds terrible... progressive bullshit, yuck

Lately I've been exploring 90s music (e.g grunge/metal), alot of good bands then like Soundgarden, Nirvana and Tool.
I still prefer the 60-70s though  It was back then that the whole metal thing started with Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath (never really listened alot to Black Sabbath though).

Some great recent metal/rock albums I really love are "System of a Down", "Queens of the Stone Age" and "Welcome to Sky Valley" (by soad, qotsa and kyuss)

Tool is also progressive metal.

I'm sorry it's a fact; a good band doesn't need to make their songs twice as long as they should be because they just copy/paste the song again  :euro:

Metal isn't the only gender out there. And for one blink 182 and 30 Seconds To Mars are good bands. Never heard of the other ones but whatever. If you want a metal radio station so badly invest in radio equipment or buy satellite radio.

And no i'm not saying we couldn't use one. But punk bands are not the ones we need to target. It's those shitty pop groups like lady gaga, jonas brothers, and others.

00-10 was clearly the best decade for music. Why?
