[SA] Editing SA Replays
« on: November 13, 2009, 02:55:07 AM »
Problem:
Ever have a rep you needed to edit the clothing for?
Maybe you changed your player outfit for the 15th time this week, maybe you're tired of the GTAUnited Default skin, or maybe you're just weird.

Well, in this Tutorial I'm going to show you how to edit the player data, using a reference rep.

stuff you need:
http://sannybuilder.com/dev/Replay.rar
http://www.sweetscape.com/download/010EditorInstaller.exe

instructions:
First install 010 Editor and download the Replay.bt file, it is a template that will be used to make sense of the data within the Replay.

Then open 010 Editor and load your replay.bt template.

Now drag the rep that contains the player clothing you wish to have into the 010 Editor window.
Select and run the Replay.bt template.

Scroll down until you reach the Clothes block (19). This is where all the data for the player's clothing is stored. Click on block 19 to highlight the information. Now right click and copy it.

Now all you have to do is open another rep, run the template, scroll down to block 19, overwrite the data with your new clothing, and save.

I hope this is useful, I figured it out by myself so if there's another guy who did a Tut, fuck him.

proof
Here's a clip of the before and after, thanks to FlatFace for his rep that I used.

It's not too complicated, once you get going you could knock out 20 reps in a couple of minutes.

But the tutorial is mostly aimed at just fixing a few reps, for people who are perfectionists.  :euro:

Awesome ! ;D

Damn i already tryed already to edit the replay... but i dont got it :cheernutz:

What i wanted to do  to look in the replay and to get the information about the Gravity and Speed if its saved in there.

With this method modders have no chance!  8)

What do you think are the informations about gravity and speed saved in there? :/

Reps save data about the position of the player/bike over time which is then played back, as far as I know there is no data that a rep would contain which could be used as evidence of "modding"

For more information on exactly what is stored in a rep:

You can also edit your player's clothing in the clothes.dat file. The editing is done with these 2 lines

SETC <model1> <comp> <model2> <texture> (if your player originally wears model1, set the component comp to have model model2)

example: SETC shirtb legs jeans jeansdenim (this will ensure that your player wears blue jeans whenever he wears a shirt using the shirtb.dff file)

and

HIDE <model> <comp>: (if player wears model, hide the component comp)

example which can be also found in the file:

HIDE helmet  glasses (this hides the glasses when the player wears a helmet)

I'm not sure if the lines should be added in the beginning or the end or the file, but this definately worked for me.

btw, good job with this tutorial, i will definately try it :P

Uhm, thanks for showing. But this can be easily abused to change several types of the game's physics, if you know how to.

So, if you got knowledge of it, this can be considered as a "tutorial for modding replays", which is obviously not really what we want here, right?
