Stopping a vid using Velocity?

Can someone explain how to stop a vid (like in Daff's stop effect tut) using Velocity? Reason I wanna do it is because the snapshot method doesn't yeald good results for me and I know it's possible to do it using Velocity envelopes.

i dont know what velocity is other than a stunt video (i think), but all you need to do is split the clip and saving screenshot, then importing that snapshot into the gap between the clips and resize it from the default 9 seconds to w/e

You put your cursor on the place you want to stop it, and split the clip. Hit the right arrow on the keyboard to move the cursor slightly to the right. then split again. Then right click on the tiny clip you just made, go to Envelopes > Velocity. Bring the bar down to zero and then stretch the clip (either normally or CTRL + clicking) to your liking. Ta daa!

Different to my method but all work just fine...no need to split a clip the way i do it

Just insert envelope...add a velocity marker a 100% speed at your desired spot, then add another marker and drag it directly below the 100% and change the speed to 0%
