On a serious note, I guess there is always some competition going on, even though many would deny. It already starts within a crew itself when one is racing with his mates for a spot, which is meant to be in their crew video. The video you made together then will always be measured and compared to (usually recent) videos by other crews in the same game engine. It can be fun to compete with others, but don't take it too serious and bitch fight with everyone but your crew mates. Bitching which leads to hate can't be eliminated within GTAS as there will always be shit like personal conflicts or envy. Domination is also a factor and can lead to hate and jealousy by others.

I can't speak for VC, but in SA I'd say it's currently a WH/SSU thing. I don't intend to say there is some "battle" going on, but to me it kinda looks like WH badly wants SA domination (Onslaught/Megaton period) back. They've always recruited new guys ever since Avalanche to keep SA activity up to stay on a line with current competitors (TMS/SS/DV/SSU to make it chronological). General gossip will always bring up comparisons and all that, so the people within the crews are probably not even always responsible for shit going on. Past has shown also that crews can work very well together and can put out collabs like AOA.
