DDR 2 ram.
« on: June 19, 2008, 06:04:25 AM »
Hello's!

Okay, I want to upgrade my internal memory, from 2 to 4, or maybe 6 gig.

Now I'm just stuck tbh. Cause I can afford 2 gig ''fast'' ram, or 4 gig ''slower'' ram.

These are my options:
Fast one, OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 / 1066 MHz / Platinum Series / 2GB Module
http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memo...num_2gb_edition

Slower one, OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 / 800 MHz / Reaper HPC Edition / 4GB Dual Channel / CAS 4
http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memo...cl4_4gb_edition

Now in price there isn't a big difference, but there is in performance... So what would be the best choice between these two, or maybe you know another good one..?? I'd rather not buy Value ram though.

Afaik, there'll probably not be a game within the next few years that would be better with 4GB than 2GB. Almost all games around these days, including Crysis, work fine with good FPS with 2GB, so you might aswell just get the fastest.

Indeed, go for the fastest 2gigs

And by the way, I don't know if you're using Vista or XP but XP can't handle more than 3gigs of RAM. (most of the versions)
