According to renowned video-game journalist Jason Hill (author of video-blog Screen Play), Rockstar has produced an edited version of Grand Theft Auto IV for Australia in order to obtain an MA15+ rating.

The Office of Film and Literature Classification gave the game an MA15+ rating on December 11 last year stating that the game contains "strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references".

Rockstar said to Screen Play that the game had been cut-down to comply with Australian classification standards, but wouldnâ€™t reveal what exactly had been cut.

That's why I can't wait for it to come out on PC. I haven't got and won't be able to afford an xbox 360 or ps3 for some time. Pc can use any countries pretty much so woot. Still pissed about this though.

they can't release the original game because it is illegal in australia. We don't have an R18+ rating like america and other countries do.

yeeeees but that is kinda difficult to do. some of the ps3's (which cost $100-$200 more) can do multi-region.

Well this is just disgusting and shows how backward my countries rating system is. I mean the average age of a gamer in Australia is 28. 10 years beyond the age of our non-existent 18+ rating for games. I am cancelling my pre-order now and finding a source in NZ or UK (other PAL regions) so I can get the game as it was intended. Fucking weak
