911tabs right here too. Yeah, Metallica's well written riffs are why they are so big - their song writing skills set them apart from lots of other bands.

Favourite riff for me... Faith No More - Suprise! You're Dead! opening riff is pretty fun. God Forbid have some tasty riffs also; one in interlude of To The Fallen Hero owns. Welcome To The Jungle is also an old favourite.

I'm just going through metallica songs trying to learn them. I'm quite shit on guitar, I usually get half way through a song and give up.

Ofthemountain owns anyone here though  No doubt.

^Indeed.

Half of the time, I don't learn full songs. I'm only interested in a few riffs and that's about it.

Just learned to play Shadows Fall - Thoughts Without Words. Solo is dam good fun to play

Also here's a question: best riff ever? And I'm not talking solos, just riffs.

Probably the break-down rhythm beat in Freezing Moon by Mayhem. There is a clip of them playing it at Wacken open air in 04 with two guitarists, and it is by far the most evil sounding riff I've ever heard, and it's so simple.

Although, the Rhythm in Aika Multa Muistot by Sentenced once the finale kicks in is pretty damn sweet. First time I heard it, it sent shivers running up and down my back. It's incredible, the feeling that comes off it.

i like to play solos so i can impress people and stuff

Pantera's Cowboys From Hell is one of my favorites, and goddamn I can double tap the whole solo without picking, haha.

The best 2-guitar (Aucustic+Dist gtr) song to play is "Fade to Black" by Metallica.
Anyone that can play the whole song with the Dist part? (Hammet)
Me myself can't, only to the solo at 5.03..

E pentatonic is like, the most basic scale there is.

True, but there's a lot of stuff you can do with it, and you can add a lot to the scale as far as the surrounding notes in each respective key.

I'm learning melodic minor at the moment in fact I have the patterns in each key in front of me, very nice scale.

ok then, now that we've established the obvious lets move on shall we?

now I came up with a little major tapping lick rather than the standard A minor triad that most guitarists use, on the key of G on the high E string goes from a G to an Ab to a Bb back to an E natural on the 12th fret, its pretty easy if you have big fingers that can handle the stretch here's the tabbed version for those of you who dont know theory.

E--3-6-8h12----7-10-12h14----14-15-18h20----|

let me know what you think, its just a start anyway.

what do you mean for those who dont know theory? How would you have posted it in musical form instead of in tab form? Tab is 100x easier. I enjoy tapping the most, I tap a lot. (on the guitar)
