Physical: Well I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (Feb 6th), so I would get rid of that. It has not been a massive shock to the system but it is annoying

I'm a big fat bastard - I'd gladly lose about 5 stone haha, I'm currently 21 stone. But at 6 foot 3 and a waist that's just creeping over 50 inches it's not as bad as it sounds - have football training twice a week and working hard not to pig out while eating.

If I could automatically change something about myself in a heartbeat, it would be something like behavioural or mentally - to be more confident in meself and whatever.

Do any in TMS enjoy reading? Currently I've devoured a series of books by Dan Brown, and also read 'The Templar Legacy' by Steve Berry (which is similar to Brown's style). Also finished reading Bryce Courtenay's 'Tommo and Hawk', over 600 pages and a shitty ending

I know I'm not TMS, but I'm currently reading Illuminati by Dan Brown.

Dan Brown has good story ideas...but man he cannot write a book to save himself (he can sell them though). He is not the best writer in the world (and quite frankly not even close). His style I find very simplistic and boring...and his books take like a day to read, nothing developed

I read ALOT of books, its what I do for fun alot of the time. I have been leaning towards reading classic established books over new releases, got alot of catching up to do on others. I also like when an author has a large catalog, it lets me see how their writing progressed or even just enjoy the style of writing they have. Favorite authors are:
-Hunter S. Thompson
-Henry Miller
-Hermann Hesse: "Glass Bead Game" is utterly fantastic
-Douglas Coupland: His book "Generation X" actually coined the term and is a really good easy read
-Chuck Palahniuk: He wrote Fight Club, but check out "Survivor", his best work that I have read. And it is utterly twisted
-Aldous Huxley: I have now read four of his books, "Brave New World" being the best followed closely by Heaven & Hell

Right now I am starting the first book in the "Dune" series, so far it is growing on me. I also want to read more of Cormac McCarthy's work, I read "The Road" last year, that was a powerful book

Keep in mind kr3m, some folk like things simple I'll try to check out a couple of your recommendations, though.

There are many authors who are never heard of, not if you don't know how to look for them. Also depends on the kinds of books you read. As for Dan Brown, sure people can like simple books, but his simplicity is just simple and inelegant. There are other writers that can write simple books and have proper skill and style to their writing. Nothing about his books resonant with me beyond the clever idea that it has.

The authors I like are largely placed in the "Literature" end of the bookshop, or are found more readily at alternative bookshops I go to. You would be surprised how big their works are. Hermann Hesse won the noble prize for literature. Hunter S Thompson wrote Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Henry Miller is one of the greatest 20th century American writers. Cormac McCarthy wrote "No Country For Old Men" - whose film adaptation did quite well at the Oscars I am sure you heard
