Problems Compressing

I'm trying to compile a video, I'm using Camtasia Studio 3, but i'm having problems. I can't get it to be high quality and still be small. I've read daffy's topic about it but i can't find those options in Camtasia when i try to compile it. Using avi format the quality was semi-decent but was 200+ MB   , and using a WMV format it was very small but the quality was horrible.
I've looked all around for those options but can't find them anywhere so if anyone that uses Camtasia or if anyone knows of any free programs i can compile with.

I'm going to try to download a vegas trial but it's going at 2 kb/s right now
