Is using content creator to do stunts frowned upon?
« on: December 24, 2014, 07:15:33 AM »
I very, very rarely use it at the moment, but I'm tempted to start using it more. I'd hate to land stunts using it only to have people think less of them due being in a custom race though.

Also, is there a way to hide the race timer? It's so ugly looking.

If you stunt in the creator? Yes. Because it's hard to know whether you're testing a race or just driving around. And one of those makes it so you can't bail, and that's kind of stupid. So if I see a stunt is done in the creator I would think less of them, but mostly because I can't be sure which mode you were stunting in. And it's not exactly hard to just publish the race anyway.

To remove the race timer online you have to restart your game and it should be gone. that is if you already have hud and other things off though. If not, you can turn them off in the options/display menu :)

So it's all good if the race is saved, and you're racing on it rather than just testing? That's the way I'd do it anyway.

Thanks.

It's all good if you have published the race and you're playing it online, but if you stunt inside of the creator then that's a no go

And ye. The biggest disadvantage of stunting on creator mode is that you can't use your custom bikes . U have to use only the stick bikes that pree sucks.

i'm not sure i understand the difference between racing in an unpublished race, versus a published one.
you can bail in an unpublished race, it is not a godmode.
but both use boosts and restart points, so it's pretty much cheating in my opinion.
i've only used creator once, for one stunt and it felt dirty.
if i see someone hitting a line of boosts before a stunt, i'm instantly less impressed.
just my two cents.

You can bail in content creator, but you can also avoid it by switching camera mode before testing the race. Many of the YouTube stunters with popular channels/crews do this, but it's lame as hell. Boosts are also frowned upon, the only reason you'd use them is if you have something very creative in mind that can't be done without them. Something so good, that it's worth it :P.

i rarely see creative enough tricks that would warrant the use of boosts.

i've noticed a lot of these top stunters videos that use boosts, but they edit it so that the run starts right after the boost, just as the animation is fading.  it's pretty shady IMO.

I alwayd wanted to ask: Are car stunts with boosts okay? I mean, everybody uses special ability to do them, that's what gets you further. But what about stunts that don't require that much of a run up?

I think you should apply the following type of logic to any kind of stunt, regardless of what you're doing. If it's not special enough to warrant the technique you're using, then you're doing something wrong :P. For instance, using special ability on cars in single player is pretty boring unless you're using it to land something really impressive, like a tiny precision or huge roof.

Boosts pickups aren't an issue with cars in the same way they are with bikes, because cars are pretty useless without the special ability in general, but unless you have a really good way of utilising boost pickups with cars, it's not going to look very impressive. Somewhere you wouldn't want to use boost pickups with cars are stunts like Slayer's Zentorno wallride from Omega, or multiplayer bumps, because they don't need boosts in any shape or form.
