GTA Online thoughts on stunting
« on: September 30, 2013, 01:46:54 AM »
Seeing as you can make your own race, shouldn't it be possible to make 2 checkopints, one at the start, and one at the end of a stunt and because you can reload the last checkpoint you went through it could work like a quick save and load position thing on consoles? the only thing that would be the downside is that you would see the end check point at the roof, but then again, there doesn't have to be a checkpoint at the end, just somewhere to load to if you fail

Just thinking out loud  :euro:

Ow, if it is like it was on IV, then it might be amazing. I'm up to try some stuff tomorrow since I'll have my elgato and the live prepared. You're on ps3 right?

I just think putting a check point at the beggining of the runup, and another one on the roof is the best way to go. But, if you fail, do you reload to the first one? god, can't wait :3

Been wondering about this too, but here's the thing. Without that slow motion ability, which opens up so many possibilities, I don't know that online will be the bulk of my stunting this time around :P

I only see the slow motion ability being useful for avoiding cars. I have no idea if races allow you to set the amount of traffic there should be during, but I don't see it being a massive issue. But if you are talking about slow mo on the actual stunts, I think that's pretty lame. I mean, it's a feature in the game and all, but since you can't speed it up except in post I think it'll look hella ugly in any video, just like fl off in VC. It's not modding, it just looks ugly. I'm defo taking the stunting online, just because of a good save and load option and to stunt with some of you guys :D racing for spots and shit. (ps3 indeed)

You're missing out on making some really extraordinary stuff happen on consoles by not using it. I've used it on almost every stunt of mine in some way, without trying to make it too intrusive :P. Whether that be just in the runup (for traffic, sharp corners and traction), or as an actual part of the stunt, it all depends. And in some cases, it actually makes things look cooler .

When I look at a stunt, I'm thinking with my eyes, and what looks cool to me. Not what other people might say about it (stunters specifically). People have lots to say, but while they're being arm chair critics, you've got to land some amazing stunts. Also, it's easy to just think about this forum when you're landing stunts, but that's the wrong kind of mentality. Think about the millions of people who own GTA V, that's who you're really trying to impress.

You can't hold yourself back from using the slow motion ability on the basis that it makes things easier. Why do people use FL off in San Andreas, the RAD method, quick saves, god mode, and all the rest? I understand that there are differences, in that slow motion can take the "flow" out of a stunt, but you've got to understand, this is a very different game for stunting. Use the ability in moderation, and only use it if it's actually necessary, or unrealistic to land stunts otherwise (especially on consoles). If you're not using the slow motion ability in some way, you're doing it wrong :cc_detective:

Clarification: I'm talking about Franklin's slow motion ability in GTA V, for those who haven't played the game. Obviously, "slowitdown" is complete bullshit. It's a cheat, not an ability with a set of limitations.

I'm using it for short run ups, it seems I'm getting quite faster, it's aswell useful when I have to pass the traffic.

^ The best part about that video is the comment section.

You can observe in field how the detectives of youtube prove that this video is actually fake (shocking, I know).
