Computer Talk / Windows Media Player help
« on: August 06, 2007, 10:45:21 PM »
I've checked the help site, and they said that they can't help me
BTW, I've WMP v11, so unless there's v12, I've got the latest.

Computer Talk / Windows Media Player help
« on: August 06, 2007, 10:39:50 PM »
My problem is, that whenever I download any videos from the net, WMP alwyas gives me the same error message "Your computer is running low on memory. Quit other programs, and then try again". And the thing is, my computer has plenty of memory left, so I don't understand why I am getting this.
Does anyone know how to fix my problem?

Computer Talk / File Restoration programs
« on: August 06, 2007, 03:15:29 AM »
Can anyone give me the link for a good File Restoration program which is FREE?
And by free, I mean free to recover files, not just search for lost files. I've used a couple, and now I've been waiting for nearly 2 hours for a scan to finish, then it tells me to purchase the product and give my details from the product, so I can restore the files I want back.

If anybody can get me a free recovery program, I would greatly appreciate it.

Computer Talk / Virusscanner/Spyware Scanner blabla

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger

Stinger is the best, as long as you use the one most recently updated version, updated May 1, it tells you when iti was last updated beside the name (should be at the top of the list). It deletes Trojans and Viruses, not sure about Spyware

Starting up your PC in Safe Mode, then cutting and pasting elsewhere? (Not sure if this actually works)

Computer Talk / VIRUS!
« on: June 09, 2007, 05:08:20 PM »
I got the same virus, but fixed it myself.
All you do, is go to the system32 file (found in the WINDOWS file), and search for rdchost.dll or something like that, there's another dll, similar name to rdchost, can't remember, sorry, and the third file to delete is the rar file "photo album". After that use Stinger (http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger), and it should be gone. (Use the version which says it was updated on May 1st)
I followed these steps (didn't get them from anywhere specific so don't expect a help-link) and the virus was gone after that.

EDIT: To delete both .dll files, you might need to start-up your computer in safe mode, you can delete "photo album" without safe mode.

Computer Talk / Got an annoying virus
« on: June 06, 2007, 03:37:33 AM »
It turns out it wasn't a virus, but my computer overheating.
Thanks Aries!! Now it'll be much easier to fix since I know what the problem is.
The beeping sound is gone, but if I uncheck something, it'll be back. So now I just gotta get someone to help me fix it completely

Thanks   I tried googling for the Symantec thingy, but I couldn't find the right link to follow to get the info about the virus, maybe I missed something?
