Computer Talk / Download speeds going down?
« on: October 16, 2008, 03:47:35 PM »
Its just a problem with calculating the amount of traffic - just don't care about the speed it shows you.

Computer Talk / Question About Harddisk« on: October 16, 2008, 03:46:08 PM »
Aslong as you don't use an extremly old OS or some expiremental drivers it should just give you an error.
But if you use an old OS or special tools for it, you might overwrite some usefull data or even mess up regions of the harddisk which can't be corrected later anymore. 33

I m absolutly sure that your modem isn't blocking any ports
Your ISP might be, but I guess its just that you just don't know that your ports are already opened, or you forwarded it to a wrong system. 34
VC Chat & Support / Squallo Boost Method ?« on: October 12, 2008, 02:19:33 AM »
haha .. I know this from my own engine. In my engine, it happens if something is pushed up and down at the same time through an object, it just adds the velocity up and thows you up or down. It could be, that the the col gone through the ground, got stuck in it and then a wave caught the boat.
You should try flipping the boat somewhere at the beach where water and sand start to contact. Make sure you stay in it and that it has enough speed left. This is my only idea :/ 35
GTA Modding / SA Replay Zoom Hack« on: October 09, 2008, 11:04:37 PM »Quote from: JayFoxRox I was right, 97FAD4h is the current zoom: ...oh man... he shouldn't bitch about things which were known to public for a good bit of time. Why did he fill 50% of the vid with an booring intro and why does he tell us to fuck off? I just don't get it... //Edit: Keep in mind that the post above was made in the Freeplay topic after a talk with Dannye, Dannye had the info, not me 36

Computer Talk / DLL load error« on: October 07, 2008, 10:37:27 AM »
Sometimes games install older dll files, just try installing new drivers again and reinstall directx. This is usually the first thing one should try when having such problems.

Try disabling IRQ boosting and update your drivers (and physx, codecs, directx).

Welcome to the school dev-blog!
I will write some lines about my project here once in a while (hopefully). This project was started after my first computer lesson in school this year. I have only very few knowledge in C and C++ so I picked C++ as computer class. However, it turned out that my teacher knows less than me (memory management, differences between C and C++).. Our first task was to write a calculator - right... in the console... using Dev-C++. Shocked by that, I just wrote my code within 15 minutes, then started to help others getting their code right. The next lesson, we were given the same task again - I was going fucking insane. I saw that this year would be useless if I wouldn't learn anything new, so I started making funky chiptunes using "Beep();" and the system speaker. I thought about whatelse I could do, I came up with 2 projects: - A tracker for "Beep();" sounds to fill the booring time and get better at tracking - A clone of "Mashed, Drive To Survive" to play with my classmates In the end, the game idea got my vote. So the plan is to create resources at home (mainly weekends, I have other projects over the week) and to write the code in school. The PCs in school can atleast do full DirectX8 which is quite impressive. However, I will write in DirectX9 to learn something new. To prepare for wednesday I started to make some models yesterday and today: These are a palm and an explosive barrel, the explosive barrel will be a weapon pickup, I also made another barrel which is green - the oil-barrel. The car is not completed yet, I worked after an GT40 blueprint. I plan to do the minigun, the flamethrower, the shotgun and some level files after finising the car. If you are unfamiliar with "Mashed" you should check out this video: PS: I came up with calling it school because I named the project files that way last wednesday already, a friend of mine completed the full meaning of the word. 41
