Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas / Is popping the NRG's front tire a thing?

As I just found out, Mr. Taz uploaded a live stunt compilation vid, and in several of his clips he's using a bike with the front wheel deflated.

What is the purpose of that? I'm guessing better bumps? After all this years... that technique it's a new thing to me.
