Title: Choosing music
Post by: bj070893 on December 22, 2005, 06:19:53 PM
I'm not making any vid right now, but it's for the future. If you've seen .:VoltagE:., you'll have seen the last stunt with no music  For me, it's the most difficult part of the whole vid  How do you guys go about choosing the right music (length, type)?

I just pick a song I know/like that I think would work well.

How about length issues?

Depends. If it's too lengthy, pick a part of the song that's used a lot, maybe a chorus. And just cut and paste it, and use some editing skills to make it fit in right. Voila, more room for stunts. It's what ATS do sometimes ^_^

i pick a song i like, i dont care if people dont like it. length wise i like 3:30-4:00 minutes long for stunts minus the intro and credits. as what ares said you can chop and edit a song, thats what i did for the intro in gotti.

Yeah just pick what YOU like dude. As far as time length, ya just gotta be able to stretch and squeeze them tunes to work sometimes :P

Rock, or rap with good beats (I won't give you examples because I'll use rap in my next vid :P) and the song should have like 8 or 9 second lyrics before the next beat (take "Dedicated" for example) so you can synch beats, and when you record, just record for like 12 seconds so you can cut off parts you don't want and synch the beats. Crap, I never experimented with this and how come I know about it <_<

@Nightkid: I pick what I like. I told a few people about the soundtrack I was planning to use and they all hated it :P

@Neo: I'll practice strectching and cutting then :)

@Kenny: I'll try it, thanks for the advice.

How I would choose is something that many people have forgotten but sends a chill down their spine when they hear it or make them say "Oh yeah I remember this :P" hehe and for length, if it is too short then I would say just copy paste a solo or chorus of the song or use a song and a part of a different song :) but if it is too long just cut it off at a good point and fade it out or if you want to end it at a specific word then just cut it with no fade :D hope this helps you.

I simply chose songs that I like. I know I am on the outs around here when it comes to tastes in music (since most people disliked the song I used in Advection).

Really I think Music will be the least of my worries its that damn editing GRR. But I usually like vids with music that just makes me get pumped take Get Psycho - Disturbed for example music like that.
