Hey, I need a bit of help here, I bought a gtx 670 today & I already had a gtx 570, I linked them both up & installed them into my pc. The problem is, that seemingly, 1 card alone gives me more performance than both combined (via the nvidia control panel), what's even worse is that the performance isn't all that good (i.e. 30 fps in Batman Arkham City, 25-40 in JC2 benchmark). The drivers are up to date & my PSU is 520w, so I really doubt it's that. Has anyone got any ideas what may cause this?
-
two different series cards, you dun goofd. Maybe if they were the same PCB you could SLI but they're two different generation cards. Sell the 570.
-
Ahh, aight then, gotta contact Venomous then :3
-
sli gtx 670's
-
SLI does not always equal double performance. Some cards will have terrible scaling, plus the game may not have support for scaling and result in microstutter.
-
What about 2 670s? :euro:
-
how much you bought GTX670?
-
two 670's would be just under double performance.
do you really need SLI 670's though?
-
I guess I'm just trying to prepare myself for GTA V is all, want to make it look good & run it proper. I don't really feel the need for it atm, but since I have some disposable income, I can save up for it.
-
at full load one 670 is approx. 250w, so two 670's will draw approx 500w, Probably need to upgrade that aswell.

You still won't be able to run it if they port it just as badly again as they did with IV.
-
you're preparing really early for a PC version of GTAV... lol..
-
Yes, I need it :euro:
I'm planing to buy a new pc, and new video card would be great addition, wouldn't have to spend money on it!
Also, I was going to call You today, but somehow I forgot it ;/
-
why do u need 2 gpus anyways. GTX670 is powerful as fuck, you can keep only the new one
-
Had the same problem with 2core GPU few years ago. Only one core was working.

What do you mean lol? GTX670 is already good enough for GTA IV (on max settings too oi). Unless you mean something else. :euro:

That card might be sufficient, but my HD6950 is supposed to be more than enough as well and IV and EFLC still run like complete shit.

If I remember of ATI cards... the 70/80/90 versions of the serie are only interesting for gaming?
-
I can run IV just fine with 200 fps on lowest settings & 40-60 on highest with enb (icenhancer 2.1) & sfaa.

I thought IV had a fps limit :|

Dunno.

The thing with IV is that it barely relies on the GPU at all. It all comes down to how good your CPU is.
I can confirm this too, because I have a 6950 as well, and my IV runs really smooth.

Actually, the only thing you need a GPU for IV is it's video memory. If you want to set higher settings of course. For smoothness as you said, CPU based.

It's still part of it. :ninja:

Wanna game? get nvidia I guess. Amb might be cheaper, nvidia will always be the best game wise imo. I kinda regret taking my amd card.
I'm off topic there :L
-
You can setup the 570 to work as your physix dedicated card.
-
Yeah keep in mind that if you buy stuff this early for GTA V they're quite expensive now but by the time the game is released for PC they'll be at least 4 times cheaper D:
But hey theres juicy games out there that need juicy PCs like FarCry 3 and so on. So go ahead :3
-
Don't worry. they'll do a good port for gta V. gta IV just, wants to eats pc. for example, with my 7770 I can run max payne 3 high as fuck and its fluid as shit (i think i have 40-60 fps, didnt check very well, even recording was fully playable), and that game is a good example that rockstar can make a good graphic game pc without eating so much shit like gta IV. so I believe their games wont have problems in the future with fps.
Unless they comit the same fucking error with gta IV. bad console ports are bad

Are you telling me that the i7 2600k is too crap to run a 2008 game, because the game runs pretty slow with my own 6950?
In the case of V, they have a game that from the trailers seems to have low framerates and lots of aliasing, they might port that to the PC but I don't trust them to make a good job.

I have the i7 2600k myself, so if yours can't run the game smoothly then I don't know. The game is horribly optimized though, even if it's from 2008.

GTA IV was ported from PS3. You can't expect it to run smooth in any pc lol
