Well yeah I've started photographing approximately 3 days ago, these are the only pictures that actually turned out as pictures from the past 2 days, because the first day consisted of super overexposed/underexposed pictures so it was a sad sad day, but I'm seeing improvements every time I use my camera and I felt like sharing them. I was going to go to the sea and take some nice slow shutter speed pictures and post them here, BUT I couldn't go to the sea today, so hopefully I will in the upcoming days. Anyway, feedback is much appreciated.
All handheld/sitting on a table.
They're SLIGHTLY edited to hide certain flaws, no colors added or changed.

Oh my god!
Camera name? Really sweet work man.
-
Canon EOS 550D with 18-55mm kitlens.
-
Please, please don't become one of those pretentious, pseudo-artistic douchebags, who think, that they are so profound & artistic, putting deep, meaningful captions on their "priceless photography" & evade every argument with "you just don't understand it" or "you aren't a photographer so you can't criticize my work of art"
You know the kind I'm talking about.
^ That paragraph needs a lot more quotation marks, I see.
Said that, I really like the 3rd & 5th pic, the 3rd has a nice, desolate atmosphere & 5th just looks good.
-
I have a 550d too. Nice pictures.
-
Sweet work BeaT and good camera ;)
-
I got D3100, really nice BeaT, i loved 3rd one
-
you're ok.
keep practising.
-
Standard first pictures, I like some of them. Good job ;) I wish you the best of luck :jajaja:
-
I didn't even see the first 2, those are my favs
-
The colors in the first two photos look like your CC.
YIKES. YIKES. YIKES. YIKES. YIKES.
-
now post the same pics without any editing
i assume they would look really simple and boring

The editing only consisted of cropping the pictures to make them closer to the rule of thirds
Colors in the first two pictures were done by shooting the picture in a nearly pitch black room with slow shutter speed (30" as stated in the topic) with tungsten bulbs outside the room and the light of my LCD screen with an orange wallpaper applied to it.

wow that sounds nice! do you still have the .veg file?

I liked the two first ones best though
I assume some coloring was done in the post-processing, also nice bokeh on the kit-lens in the last picture.
Not sure if you're using it already but I recommend getting Adobe Lightroom, the beta of v4 is available for free.
Great tool for correcting barrel distortion, chromatic aberration plus post-processing of course, and do not hesitate to post-process.
Most pictures looks decent at best without post-processing or good light conditions.
-
Nice pictures dude, quality stuff for being only 3 days in.

Got this in wallpaper size? :euro:

Thanks for your advice, also come on msn sometime I feel like asking you some n00by questions.

Thanks for the wallpaper! :)

Did you really put all that effort to make the first 2 pics :| Would've been easier if you just added the colors yourself, not that this or that would make you any better.
But either way, pictures were nice, specially the 5th. I tried that Adobe program that Daffy mentioned, it seemed really cool, but I didn't really use it since I just got a lame camera and didn't want to spend much time in it.
Good luck

Some really nice pictures there, photography is fun and enjoyable with the outcome, I use the 1100D and it works suprisingly well for the money.
The first 2 pictures do look like they have a bit of colour changes they seem more enhanced then a usual low light picture but im not too sure.

xto, you don't have to own an sick ass camera to make good pics.
f.ex. I made this with random ~100$ digital camera.

and it's a really good shot imo :)
It's harder to capture motion that a still objects.

I guess you missed the part where the room was pitch black, you'd never get that feel without the slow shutter speed, unless you have proper lighting equipment which I don't have. So yeah to answer your question, with ONLY the camera and the tungsten bulbs in my house this was the only way to get the feel :P
Plus if I really depend on adding everything later then I'm not learning, I'd rather learn to capture better stuff in camera so that they reach a decent level IN camera then start adding stuff later so its EPIC not just good, so I'm learning the camera bit now :P

Sick picture Veno, but in fact I didn't get the 550D for the photography, I got it for the badass video that is almost film-like, hell with a proper lens it feels like it can battle with a RED camera. So yeah it's definitely great for shooting film.
I'll be starting to make short films soon so, I'll make sure I post that here.

Haha did the same just a few days before you posted this  I want to get a camera too and Daffy is helping me :ajaja:
Anyway , i really enjoyed the pictures dude. You definitely got a good eye for pictures , if you keep practicing you will become a great photographer.
