Well I want to start playing Fallout, I know theres Fallout fans here, so I need some guidance.... which is better: Fallout 3 or New Vegas?

Fallout 3

vmx
new vegas is a lot more replayable + its just funnier
you need to download mods for both games tho to make them more enjoyable

Tom fuck off seriously.

Played both. I enjoyed both very much but I think since I played Fallout 3 first that game shocked me a bit more. ;)

Fallout 3 had a better "feel" to it but NV has better mechanics.
spent 70 hours in 3 n 30 in nv and honestly I miss 3, I'm just running around new vegas wondering what to do next :/
I'm not a mod person, I just don't like having unofficial features in games, if it were a nice subtle one that wouldn't cause any continuity errors then I guess I'd give it a go, but I don't really know of any :/ *odd I know, considering I make mods for gta*

I loved both and put countless hours into both. I'd say New Vegas is more replayable. I have like 200 hrs in it.

Same here, probably even more  I fucking LOVE finding out all the little secrets, going through all the doors, looking in every corner, doing all the quests and just trying all the chat options on all the NPC's  In my opinion New Vegas has more of those kinda things, but I recommend playing 3 before New Vegas just because NV is a whole step further in survivalling, weaponry, the wellness of mankind and it's just (in my opinion) way more fun to experience that obvious transition in the atmospheres when you play through F3 and then step into New Vegas. 2 of my all all all all time favorite games, seriously <3

am i the only one after playing the main missions look for all the unique weapons?
-
I've been told the games finish after you finish the main missions and you can't continue to play, so I try as hard as possible to avoid them xD the downside though is I'm a really low level doing hard quests <_<

Both games give you a warning when the end of the game is about to begin so you can choose to not fo it yet.
Also, I go for the unique weapons while playing through the main story so I can own the shit out of people.

The Broken Steel DLC for Fallout 3 lets you continue playing after the main missions are done.
Don't know if theres anything like that for New Vegas yet though.
