i dont know about Batman a lot ,i only saw some Batman films , but how i read ,it allows him to breathe

Indeed. And who the hell is that villain? I've never seen him in the Batman comics or animated movies :|

He was even in that Joel Schumacher abomination called Batman & Robin but he was very inaccuratly portrayed. He is smart but at the same time very strong. He is the same guy who broke Batmans back in one of the comics. He may look different becauce Nolan has his own vision of everyone in the Batman universe. Just the same way as Joker in the last movie looked nothing like Joker in comics or other movies.
