Title: CounterStrike : Global Offensive
Post by: Flat Face on December 02, 2011, 12:14:19 PM
Surprised we don't already have a topic on it. It's the successor to CSS and in my opinion is to CSS what CSS was to 1.6, nothing to get too excited about but at the same time, I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT!

I'm sad they didn't include more new features, we really only get 2 I can think of, playing cross platform and Gun Game is now an official mode. EDIT: apparently when you die, if you're playing with bots, you can now choose to control one of said bots. A nice implementation in my opinion.

Hopefully there's more than they've let on but, I'm not getting my hopes up :(

Oh and for those of you wondering, it's in closed beta now, keys were given out at PAX and.. uh.. some european game convention thing, though they may give out more keys in the future, we'll see. *don't go falling for scams promising keys*

It looks cool, they're trying to bridge the competitive communities of 1.6/CSS, and it already looks pretty balanced even at early beta. It lacks a little of the responsiveness of the other games though, which will obviously improve. I haven't mixed/gathered CSS in ages since it's so old, this'lll probably get me playing competitively again :D

a good link with pics comparing 1.6 - CZ - CSS - GO :D it's amazing the leap from even CSS to GO, 1.6 looks similar to CSS but GO just takes it to a whole other level :P

dont really like the trailer/gameplay. 1.5/1.6 are still my favorites  :)

I like what I see so far except for two tiny things. The colorscheme and the foggy weather thing. The colors are a setback from CSS and the foggy weather makes long range AK shots alot harder.  :( Still looking forward to it though. Not as much as GTA V but still wanting it  :D

there's been a lot of complaints about the fog and it's still early beta, I'd expect it to be smoothed out over the coming weeks :) hell the guns still seem to be mostly untextured, they're just base colours 0.0 the only 2 guns that look finished are the p2000 and the AK :/

As for the colour, really? you think more realistic is a step back?

------------

EDIT: Also forgot to vent my annoyance at those wanting 1.6..2.. it's not going to be a damn *press w then press d and move exactly when the buttons are pressed with constant speed* and instant shoot + bunny hopping and all that crap.. it's going to be a GOOD game, not the basic ideas behind a FPS

Well I got the beta by myself and I gotta say it's way more fun than CS:S or 1.6.
Before I played it myself , I thoght it would be a fail like CS:CZ but this game has so much potential , can't wait till they extend the beta.

Is there anybody else with a key btw?

Does the weapons feel weird when you're firing or is it like in the previous games?

Well, at the moment it's only luck to control the gunspray and the deagle recoil equals shit too , but the rest feels like a mix between CS1.6 and CS:S.

I just want more balanced snipers... CSS you've got a 1 hit kill canon, a 100% accuracy as fast as you can click canon and an actual sniper rifle.. <_<

though I'd be up for a few changes to perhaps the spray and recoil, I don't mind it being a bit more random but not TOTALLY if ya know what I mean?

can you still join the beta?

i dont have high expectations, most likely i will stick to css but would like to check it out

not really mate :/ they gave out a set amount of keys at conventions so unless there are still unused ones that you come across *people will no doubt give fake ones so.. real ones aren't easy to come by*

Valve said everyone will get to play it but not sure when :/

apparently it's a mix between 1.6 and CSS so I'll be playing it *though I really find almost no difference between the 2*

um yeah? :P I just can't wait to play it, new graphics of cod level but playing CS :D though I wish instead of the crappy "zoom" we get with the zooming ones we actually got the sites instead of just seeing further <_<

I'd like to give it a try! And it would be awesome if they added the game to the ones that have the CS complete pack like me

Anyone on the steam forums should have a look at this

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2277589 (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2277589)

He's pretty much got my opinion down pat :P I do want a few things to be tweaked, like more shooting through walls *I must say that was one of my favorite things about cod* but generally I'm happy with most of the game, the models need more work but generally the gameplay looks greats :D

however the steam forums have a bunch of old 1.6 players up in arms because IT'S DIFFERENT!!!  :( :( :( it's pretty damn annoying.. but I've gotten myself banned over there so I can't back this guy up, you must for me!!! :D

--------

There was another post on there about things really lacking in usual valve quality? *not the currently released maps* but yeah I have to agree, the guns tend to suck currently, hopefully they're just in beta form but like..  hell SA has mods that look better than the current guns in CS GO

He's suggested changing the CS mode and hostage gameplay, I love every single idea he's posted.. go support this guy!
