Title: Fraps lags
Post by: Kukiel on October 12, 2011, 06:36:10 AM
My fraps lags as hell. I have no idea whats the reason but each time I try to record fps drops down even in the menu of VC. Same goes for other games. I have win7. Any ideas?

Are you using BK's fraps settings? Recording at 15fps and make clip 2.000 faster

I'm using normal fraps 3.2.2. I had computer crash a while ago. It used to work well but since the crash it's not. I'm using the same installation file. I can't record above 15fps. Video Capture Settings is set to 30fps.

Check your GPU's video settings. With certain settings you get various amounts of fps drops while recording. Doesn't take too long to fix it and keep AA enabled too.

I have AA enabled. How do I check GPU's settings? I'm not really into computer stuff. I have NVIDIA Display Control Center. I will check there first.

e: nothing useful there

Did you check whether a program is using shit loads of memory? maybe a virus.

If you have two hardrives have fraps on one and make it save the clip on the other.
Works everytime

e/ if it was a virus i doubt he would be complaining about just fraps lagging

Yeah, I doubt it's virus. I have two harddrives indeed. I did what you said but it didn't work.
I will try the new version.

e: new version checked, still lags.

e2: Okay we got progress. Turns out it does actually work in Counter Strike (the only other game I have). So it's probably VC's fault. Now, I run it a compatibility with windows 98/me. I used to do too. Can it be it? I should point out that I tried to change fraps's compatibility to 98/me as well, no changes seen.

e3: It couldn't be worse. Turns out it's AAs fault. I can record with no AA applied. Shit sucks. Still, I used to be able to record with 8x.

Recording without AA would burn my eyes (and currently with my new card I don't get AA on videos :c), I'm surprised you can survive that.

It happened the same to me. I just downloaded the 2.9 cracked and it worked well.

vc: lockframerate to 30 fps.
sa: lockframerate to 25 fps.

if you have 2009 version, is dont syinc audio and video.

if you have 2011 version. put lockframe rate and presto. all fraps media will be at that fps. (only works with replays. no live videos)

Why don't you use 3.4.6 version? :euro:

I did try it before my last post. It didn't work.

So far I tried 3.2.2 and 3.2.3. I don't really think 3.4.6 would make any difference. As I pointed out, it's more likely my VC's fault than Fraps's since fraps works just fine in CS:S.

Here's how the recorded with 15 fps and then speed up clip looks like.

It's pretty ugly to me.

Maybe a fresh re-install of VC would help.
Maybe it's "worn down" a bit. ;)

Well then again as I mentioned I had computer crash. I reinstalled the game ..well not really. I should have mentioned I do not actually have VC. It's SAiVC. I basically unpacked Cdarmy's version and added my skin. I didn't even change his bike. I played it like 3 times for the past month.

You know, the cause could be because of many different things.
Maybe the rep itself is buggy. Trust me this is sometimes true. You can try testing out different reps to see if the results are the same or not. Try playing around with draw distance within the game.

I'm doing what I can to help. You can ignore me if you'd like, totally fine.

But you know, better off tryin'.

I gave up anyways. I have no idea what it could be but definitely not replay. I tried to record the menu, the game and a replay. Fps always drop to 15 with 8x AA and to 20 with 4x AA. Anyways, thanks for trying guys.

Restart the computer
You never know...

The graphic card drivers you installed after the computer crash are probably not the same version as the ones you had before. It might work to install older drivers (even though it could possibly give worse result in other/newer games.)

I'm not willing to take that step. I play VC very little now. I had this editing project to do but nothing besides it. Again, thanks for trying.

I still can't get it. As I know I have a worst pc than you, and I can record in SAiVC with 15FPS, and putting in SV double speed at that clip, then I have a really good fps. I will not sleep until I can find the to solve problem
