Those are pretty expensive though, i would buy one too if they wouldn't be that much.

Depends on the size you want, of course A3-A4 cost a lot. There's also a wide variety of smaller tablets at good prices like the 'Bamboo'.

Are you using an A4 formated?
I don't wanna spend 1000 euros on it, but neither wanna buy a totally small one, between the two :P

They don't even cost 1000€, they're like 200-400€, you should look for yourself and compare prices. It's not about the size btw, it's about who and how effective someone uses it.
