Nostalgia.... I want it back. Why can't we have it back btw? I remember some topic about it but coulden't find it. Those times were just epic even if I only had the chance to get around in it for less then 2 months or something :cheersad:
Anyone else?
Just as a summary for the newer members.
- You got points for posting, like 10 points for each post outside of the Humor zone.
-The marketplace actually had a purpose...
-Skinners sold bikes and alot of other things for points.
- Points could be earned by posting or by just giving it to others.
-Completing challenges in the VC or SA challenges section earned you points. You got them from the one who posted the challenge.. and so on and on.
-Bottom-line: AWESOME and a more active modding section.
Is this forum "engine" not capable of using this? To little space? :hmm:
Anyone up for it? Or atleast tell me why we can't have it?

I don't really see the negative side of this :L Atleast tell me what is wrong with it then instead of saying:

It's useless. It won't bring new activity. People won't land challenges just so they get points to then give them to a skinner. Skinners won't skin more to get some stupid forum points. DO you really think people will post more just because they get points for it? The guys that almost never post do so because they don't know what to say in a nerdy gaming forum. The people that post 40 posts a day probably are bored or want to be one of the top posters one day. SO the point system won't change it.
Pro-tip: We have/had that system in gtastunting.de. It got used for a short amount of time. Then all were bored of it. We still have it installed but it's just used for name changing. Nothing else.

the reason why this is bad is because if a skinner is selling something for so much points and one person really wants that thing, spamspamspamspamspam. And they are utterly pointless for other things that buying bikes/skins/mod whatever.
I don't think we need it at all...

And what's wrong? Can't you difference between the fact of be spammer, posting any shit that goes out of my ass or every sandwich that I eat and the fact of post things with sence or longer than 4 words..

If someone posts like 200 posts/day he could simply stop getting points because of spamming. I'm neutral to the idea because I wouldn't really care anyway.

You guys are creating problems already for something that is not there yet :L And why would skinners charge way too much for their skins? The system worked fine a few years ago and I am 90% sure it will work now aswell. And if you guys really care about spamming that much. What about a 4 posts for points a day? or even 3 if you like nobody talking?

I think that would be too much of a hassle to the staff if you'd had to do that for just a handful of people.

I think it's a good idea, it could give more production to the skinners and better yet, gain a wider interest back into skinning. Getting our own little currency could be fun although yeah, you might get noobs spamming but that's the whole idea of having moderators.

Agreed! If someone it's posting too much shit or spamming the moderator will ban him for 1 day, because having only 4 post per day, if you're discussing something about any thing will be pretty useless :/

Could do it so that any posts, aside from the 4 ones, could be deleted if they're pretty offtopic so they won't delete a random bunch.

Limiting it to 4 posts is stupid, because there are many active posters that don't spam and actually have meaningful posts. Limiting them to 4 posts for gaining points, could possibly end up making them less active? I also really like Ltab's idea of starting at 1000 points, as this will prevent a spam rush from happening for when it first comes out.

Truth be told though, this is hardly gonna bring more skinner activity to this place. When it existed there were literally tons of skinning shops around the marketplace, there were skinning competitions, in short... skinning was a popular side-activity on GTAS - people wanted to learn it themselves which in turn lead to more skinners around. Nowadays I doubt we have that kind of interest sparked.
Although, the buzz is like that nowadays with editing. Much more branched out than it was then. So maybe points system could be used to "purchase" editing? Who knows. I know I probably won't be needing points to ask somebody to edit something for me. Could be useful for the people who are starting out.
Honestly, I don't care at all about the points system. I'm pretty sure I wasn't around when it existed, and I also won't be needing any more skins, I'm all set on that record until I quit. But I'm always supportive of bringing new or reintroducing old ideas as long as they have some common sense behind them (also I see there is a lot of members supportive of it). Thus I'll agree on this, should the staff start discussing it.

This will be on a trial basis. Too much spam and the feature will vanish. Things are still to be tweaked so don't complain if you buy say a username change at 100 credits and it changes to 50 credits. The staff is not responsible for scams and the such either.

The only people causing that would be Delfy and Tailor :P
You should like get a warning or something if you post too many offtopic posts, but this is still a trial so we'll see how it works out.

You might want to feature this as a news page item so everybody knows whats up with the new system and such.
Even though I liked the idea of the points in the past, I don't think it will have any effect now. Back in the day it was just part of GTAS and everybody used the points. Like the examples already given, some people would land challenges and such and it was just another way to add fun. I don't think a lot of this will happen these days anymore, the mindset simply changed too much.
But I'd love to be corrected, so prove me wrong GTAS. :)
