In the 2nd episode of Looking back (a day late due to my absence), we will be looking back at Blood Hood.
Souzuk's Blood Hood bears great resemblance to the "editing collabs" of today. Such videos were quite rare in 2008, I have to admit. The focus on the stunts was quite big then, not many people organized videos just out of the sheer need to edit, or to show off editing. It's easily deductible that this video is different by the first sentence of the description Souzuk wrote in the release thread:
"Yes finally its out. I worked 134hours on it, 8H frapsing, 4H After Effect Stuff and 122 Hours on the main editing. (i know this because i set a timer)".
Sounds familiar? Yep, like 75% collabs of today have similar descriptions, where editors talk so much about the editing that the stunts are given little to no significance. Blood Hood was one of those kinda collabs that had really great stunts. And, while people did complement the editing a real lot, the stunts were given quite a spotlight as well.
As a editor I am aware of the many great ideas pulled off in the making of this video. Some were regurgitated (the VisualProX intro was a tutorial from VideoCopilot), but a lot were simply fresh. I particularly liked the masking work, which you can clearly see at stunts such as Ev0x's grind. Another great aspect which I'd like to point out was the showing of the lyrics. While I'm sure this is not a new idea, it's the first (and one of the rare) collabs where this has been done in a good way. Another thing which easily differentiates this collab from many others at the time is the choice of music. Rap music generally never was very appreciated on GTAS, and it was usually considered a thing for the "noob" videos. Seeing it used in a big collab like this certainly was a interesting change, and a lot of the compliments Souzuk got simply for making it work. Probably thanks to this video there are still good videos put out with such music in them.
I've mentioned above that the stunts were still a great part of this video, so of course I can't skip mentioning them. One thing that makes this video a great watch is the mixture of stunts. There are bigair ones, creative ones, various vehicles were used... as you'd say, there's something for everyone's taste. One thing they have in common is that they all looked great. Maybe the editing helped there too, but that's unimportant. It'd be difficult to separate some standouts, but for me they were: Arnax's precision, Burn's epic dropbump, Souzuk's stoppie to grind, PrzemOO's great infy stunt and Morbidxxx's sick finisher.

MeetMyMeat - Best editing of all times, I never tought a DMX song can be so great in a stunt video... seriously HATS OFF ! All stunts were Great, some cool combos too.
Morbidxxx - I'm sure that it will be nominated for the best SA collab of 2008
Omni - Really good vid. Editing was sick
Torque - Officially the best vid I've been in since Connected, way to go Sozouk.
Kert - Great video. Nice job putting it together.
FURTHER VIEWING:
[noembed]Speedlimit 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHhQQM6_J34) - This was Souzuk's debut VisualProX project, and it has really impressive editing combined with some cool themed non-nrg stunts.
Moonlight (http://www.megavideo.com/?d=D8IQ8GJH) - Souzuk's 2nd solo, with some really cool editing. If you liked Blood Hood you'll probably like this.

I'm still proud that I was able to take part in this vid, even if my stunt was shit. Souzuk was a great editor. I wish he'd return.

Well written, I still watch this now and then when I remind myself of it. This is defo one of my fav's because of the edit and the song choice. Nice article man.

"I SHIT BLOOD" is kind of a running gag on skype now a days. I remember my stunt being accepted and then rejected again, which was very sad for me :(

[...] PrzemOO's great infy stunt[...]
This would still be great if released just now. :jajaja:
-
I don't get the difference with blast from the past even if the vids might be less old it's irrelevant for me.
Good to see this vid again though, Torque's presence makes it special.

Still watch it from time to time, it gets better with time

I'm glad that I participated in a such great video. I remember that in the time when it was released I complained about some insignificant trifles, but it was a product of my childish behavior. Later I realized that this is a really special and unique video. Souzuk has always been a good stunter, editor and the most importantly he has always been a good person. He helped me and supported me many times and I will never forget that.

Probably my favorite collab ever.

This video is really awesome and unique, and it's better of the 90% of the SA collabs that get released nowadays.
Makes me really want to have San Andreas installed now. Also a proof that not all of the stunts have to be fucking big air like they are mostly today.
Awesome looking back Petar, continue doing it, it made me really interested in San Andreas :D
-
woow great editing and stunting!!! :a-cheer: xD a like
