nVidia basically has the same problem as ATI had (and still do) when the HD5XXX series came out. The chips are manufactured in the 40nm manufacturing process my TSMC and there are still yield problems with it. As far as I know the next big shipment of Fermi-chips is going to be around the beginning of May. So If you really want one you should just keep looking everywhere :P
It'll get even worse when they "try" 28nm.

Oh and btw. Makes no sense to get one. Your Q9400 won't be able to deal with it anyways. If you want something as high end as a GTX480 or a HD5870, you'll need an i7. Preferably overclocked aswell :P

The 295GTX is a smarter choice as it has way lower temps and performs like a beast, I haven't seen my fps go below 60 in BC2 in 1920x1200x32 and 8xAA,4xAF with it.

Or save $200 and go with a HD5870, get DX11 and have almost the same performance with a single GPU.

Yeah, if you're lucky they give you some shitty drivers for free and the infamous cold-bug as part of the deal.

what about the "GTX 470 (Fermi) Video Card - 1280MB GDDR5"?

it's DX11 and its like $140 less than the GTX 480  :o

edit:
Just bought the 470
