Title: New pc parts
Post by: Rainbow on April 15, 2010, 11:37:52 AM
So my pc is rather slow and when I saw my results on can you run it (GTA IV) I just became sad.. (scored lower then 0.5 of passing..)

Had the idea to upgrade my PC for a while, so finally made the step to do it. But now, what to buy?
I made a little list with a friend(pic on the bottom), just with motherboard, Graphics card, processor and that kind of stuff. Budget is ~500 euro's.
Need a little advice here if these things are what I need and if I could run IV on it and other games and if I havent forgotten any critical things  :euro:

Also, is windows 7 better for gaming then XP? cause I heard 7 has some problems, dunno if its true though. (have XP service pack 3 atm, but the disc for 7 is on the other end of my desk..)

Little note: I already have 3GB of DDR 2 ram, so thats why I only order 2GB.

You've heard wrong, there's no problems gaming with W7.

E7xxx
sucks. Old backing. Quite an interesting set of
~ AMD Phenom X4 955,
~ Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P,
~ KINGSTON DDR3 4GB 1333mhz,
~ Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5,
~ OCZ ModXStream 700w.

This equipment can be a little outside the budget, but it's worth it pay more.
If I forgot some parts, write.

Instead of a 955 CPU and if you dont mind spending abit more you could go for a 965 Black Edition
OR for nearly the same price you could get an i5 750 which is even better.

For GPU i would recommend going for a ATI 5xxx series.

For RAM you could get a DDR3 4GB 1600MHz for abit more.

They are just improvements off Dayman's list.
Still, have a look around at parts and pricing and post them here  ;)
