Title: Please guys I need some help
Post by: Davve on November 15, 2008, 05:10:10 AM
When I try to open my hard drive (C:) the commando screen comes up and says "C:/resycled/boot.com" after that it errors and it says "ignore/shut" whatever I click the same thing happens. For some information I have a virus that I cannot remove called "trojan.fakeavalert". Please I need help. I've got access to most program but I have some programs that has to be started in (C:). This really makes me worried about if the harddrives can crash coz if it would I'd throw the comp out of the window.

I read some info about that boot thing and it's that it's often located as some virus in extern harddrives, I searched through the harddrive with Norton but it didn't find anything. Weird, Norton can not remove the trojan.

I need help!

Start with the simple shit, Run a program called CCleaner, it cleans alot of shit. Then run a program called Ad-aware, this too cleans shit in your PC.

1) Use a different anti virus
2) Use anti spyware
3) Use anti adware
4) Use a different anti virus
5) Try CDing to the C Drive and various locations...

E.G:

Start -> Run ->"cmd"->"cd ../../"->"tree"*

Look for something which looks like a trojan... e.g somethign with that file name

CD to the location

"cd location/of/file/"

remove the file

"del filename.ext"

And there we go.

*The tree command will take forever to finish if your computer has as many directories as mine.

Instead of double-clicking, right click it and select "explore" instead of "open", then look for files ending with "inf", basicly any file called "*.inf" or "autostart*" could be causing this (there are other ways too, but this is the first thing I would check).

I had this a few days ago. Make a file called "desktop.ini" and put it on the HD. Restart, and it should be fixed.
