Title: Ps2 Chip
Post by: Aries on August 23, 2008, 09:45:45 AM
Hey

I've got a PS2 slimline, and I'm having a big of a nostalgic weekend, so I want to chip it, and play loads of games.

Chipping isn't illegal before we go down that road.

Has anybody done it, what are the risks and whats the best way.

Thanks.

I sent it to a Finnish company and they did the job, it was about 50€. I'd say there's no risks on sending it to a trusted shop you know, but no tips from me if you're going to do it yourself.

I don't know anything about modding a ps2, but I have heard from this thing called Swap Magic (No chip mod, but does allow you to play downloaded games);
http://www.swapmagic3.com/ (http://www.swapmagic3.com/)

Check the website for more info, I doubt you can get one in time though..

I had a Messiah II chip for my ps2, played downloaded/copied games and never had any issues

A friend of mine had Swap Magic too, it works perfect. It's just a bit tricky to open the drive with that tool.

After a bit of googling, don't chip it, use swap magic. If only the PS2 was more like the PSP it would be easy
