Title: New GFX card
Post by: Lyserg on July 29, 2008, 07:23:47 AM
I'm gonna get an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX, but I don't really know if they are anything better in that price.
So I need your opinion.

Here is the link, where you can find this card : http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9800gtx.htm (http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9800gtx.htm)

Thanks.

I, personally, don't like ATi, for some reason. If you're gonna run on Intel motherboards, 9800GTX is the way to go, if you're gonna run on AMD motherboards, HD 4870 is the way to go

thats bullshit ralleee, i'm running a q6600 with a hd4850 and it beats the 9800gtx big time.
the 4870 is like half the price of the 9800gtx and its way better.

At the moment I have an ATI 9600 Pro, but that's not really good.
So maybe nvidia is better, I dunno.

I don't think a 5500 is better than a 9800 GTX or a ATI 4870...

Isn't nVIDIA better than ATi when it comes to drivers and that kind of stuff?

actually not, the new ATI drivers fixed the gay problems with the aa and stuff, the thing is ATI also performs better when turning on AA and AF.

You can't really do comparing with that card. I would listen to boxXx at this, and yes drivers are fine.

Thats a pile of shite tbh. Nvidia failed on thier mid-range cards for the 8 series. Looks pretty much the same for the 9 series too, especially with 4850's being around the same price as 9600's.

Depends on your cpu. But I've heard good things about the Gigabyte P35 DS3L. Great overclocking, all the usual features an what not.

lol DC thats the mobo i bought kinda, i bought the gigabyte ep35 ds3 the thing is its an energy saving motherboard so if you turn that feature of the motherboard is good to overclock. altho there is only 1 pci-e 16x slot which means no crossfire maybe later in the future. it does support 1600mhz on the fsb when overclocking and it supports 1200 on the memory when you oc.

now what cpu and ram will you get ?

edit  : Gigabyte P35 DS3L

like dc said buy that great motherboard for that set up.

Get a 4850 dude. You can get a 4850 for almost the price of a 8800GT.

Depends on the mobo you have though, if its SLI than go ahead and get a 9800GTX+(Vice versa with the 4850)

But if it's just single slot, than the 4850 ultimately wins.(4850 still owns it anyways.)
