Title: Speedometer mod
Post by: Juan on February 27, 2008, 04:51:23 PM
Someone pointed this out long ago, but no one really paid much attention to it. They said that when you have the speedometer mod installed, it allows you to get insane stunt bonuse's ending with a 9 which doesnt happen in a fresh install. For example ive seen crazy get 99ft of height with the mod installed. On a normal game it would register as 100ft, never 99. You may ask yourself why this is important. Well in my opinion every record has a limit. For example, what if the absolute limit for distance record in a clean install of lc is 776 but along comes someone with the mod installed and glitches to 779, meaning people who dont use the mod would be fucked. Opinions? Should it be disallowed? I think so.

huh true. BUT whos to say it wouldnt round down with speedometer mod? its really a bit trick clearl all we can do is remove it. its fine to do for stunting and such a lot of people use it to find a good speed for a stunt there doing and such. but in records its really unessecarry.

To see if it rounds down or up you can just save two different locations and just do a little bump and teleport to the other location, then you can see if it rounds down or up

why cant stunts end on 9 ?

Don't know, they can only end with 0, 3 and 6. But that rule is only for height and distance though, since you've probably seen that PlethZorb has got 1337 in rotation a few times

I just checked a lot of my screenshot, I always use speedometer and looks like that you can ONLY get 3, 9 with speedometer. Someone else noticed it?

3 is possible without it, 33ft, 43, etc. 159 is not, in a normal game you would most likely get 160 or 156.

I must point out one thing.... on PS2, it IS possible to get a 9..... I noticed it in an old cabbie stunt I did.

I've gotten 159 in a stunt I did in LC a fucking year ago which I sent for the GVT vid which was one of my best stunts and the fucking goddamn vid still isn't out yet and I don't use the speedometer.

Actually i've never noticed that.. is it actually true? Imo 9s are reachable even without speedometer.

I was speaking to Torque Nitz. Oh and the same glitch applies to SA, i think its nine too's. Ive gotten 9's on the ps2 but not on pc. Seeing as everyone stunts on the pc and no one submits ps2 records, i think a ban on speedometer records should be heavily considered.

You do know what section were in, right? Why would you bring up my SA habits in a VC thread. Fail.

A ) You are right and you'll get 779ft with speedometer instead of 776ft = Unfair

or

B ) You are wrong and you'll get 779ft with speedometer instead of 780ft (or 773ft instead of 776ft) = Speedometer sucks for WRs

Problem solved

and what IF someone submitted a PS2 stunt and the last digit was a 9? it wouldnt be accepted?... this is retarded juan, a ban on the speedometer isnt necessary since a version of the game (PS2) can have this "glitch".

ban the speedo

speedo doesn't work for me and it's an unfair advantage

just because the game can glitch and give you a 9 doesn't mean you should be able to use a hack that gives you a 9 1/5 of the time.

and i've never seen a 9 on pc version

Exactly, and Nitz go ahead and submit records on the ps2, doubt you can break any that this applies to.   The fact still is that 9's on the pc version arent possible without the speedometer mod.

I planned on making a post about this and banning them, I guess I will make a new rule. From now on if you are using the speedo mod and you get a "record" ISB that ends with a 9 on the height or distance it will not be counted as valid. Sound good?
