I bought today the orange box pack and its really nice , but that doesnt matter... , i have it installed but when i want play it...

Try again at another time, steam servers cant be accessed sometimes.

Isn't Gmod 9 the older version? I bought Gmod 10 yesterday, but it ain't working for me anyway. I agree with ImPaKt that the servers can be a little tally-ho sometimes, but overall I think that you might have the older version which isn't supported by the online servers nowdays. If you wan't to get rid of this problem, I suggest that if you can't join any servers after a couple of hours, re-install the game. It works on smaller errors.
NOTE: If you bought the orange box pack, BE SURE that you install any source engine first (CS:S, DoD:Source or Half-Life 2.)

You dont have to install the game first Blondz, i bought CS:S ages ago and Gmod shortly after, now i can install Gmod without CS:S and it works fine, this is Gmod 10 tho, Gmod 9 NEEDS HL2 installed first as its a od, not a standalone game.

My Steam fucked up badly when I installed Gmod before CS:S, but I don't know, maybe it's just my account that is retarded. I don't know if you need CS:S, but atleast it's written that you need a Source Engine to install Gmod. That is why you can not buy Gmod to a Steam Account without having a Source engine on that Steam account. Try to re-install, I don't know any other ways, execpt for buying a new computer =/

You dont need CS:S
Gmod works with ANY game based on the Half Life 2 Source engine, Poral, TF2, HL2, HL2 Episode 1 or 2, etc etc
