when i'm making a vid and i slow down the speed for a slo-mo shot it doesn't flow very smoothly, there's like a minor stutter between frames. i've tried Ulead, WMM, Nero, and i can't get smooth slo-mo with any of them. is there any software out there that can produce smooth slo-mo?

You probably need to capture at a higher frame rate.
Our eyes see at about 25 fps, which is about what fraps captures at. When you do slow motion it effectively halves this fps as all any program can do is double the length of each frame, meaning what you're seeing is about 12 to 13 fps, which is slow enough for your eyes to discern the difference between each frame. The only way to get a smooth slow mo is to capture at 50 fps, or more if you want an even slower motion video.

my tv tuner card software doesn't let me set the capture frame rate higher than 30. :reallymad:
-
Try DLing the latest version of Fraps.
That lets you capture at 60 fps.
-
can fraps be used with a PS2-TVcard hookup? i thought it only worked with PC games.
-
If the max your card can capture at is 30, that's probably what it's generating them at. You either need a better card or a pc.

ive had trouble with low FPS and shit before, its something u sometimes just have to live with when ur putting sum stunts in slow mo. What I might recommend it starting the shot out faster than normal, then slowing it down to normal
-
WMM can do it easy, all u gotta do is seperate the clips up, so that you have a normal speed, into a slow'd down clip, then split again into a normal
-
yeh, but the problem is when u dont have such a high FPS so its right choppy when u slow it down
-
yeah, i think the 30fps is the reason why it's not smooth. unfortunately i can't go any higher than that.
-
Just don't use slow mo. repeat the stunt from another angle, or play it , reverse it, and play it again.
-
i agree

Word.
Andy knows whats up

If you're confident enough, considering you're recording on the fly with the PS2, you could try slowing the game speed down (although I'm not sure if you can do that in SA), and doing the stunt like that. Only problem there is that the entire stunt will be slow.

yeah, i've tried that a couple times. it's really difficult to stunt like that though because it messes up my timing.
