Whenever I render a video using WMV I usualy get this crap around the same time in every video:
Using Vegas 7 btw.

Try it without all effects on that timewindow the problems are or re-record it.

The lag could be caused by poor buffer (if using VBR encoding) due to bitrate escalations. If you have a lot of RAM and a good processor, it shouldn't be an issue. If you're using overlay mixer (hardware acceleration), try turning it off. If using WMP, it'd be in the options somewhere. I forgot the exact button name, has Performance in it.
I know I love Quicktime with H.264 encoding, but apparently when it comes to Vista, Quicktime blows 10-12" of dick. No video will encode for me these days.

make sure you render enough keyframes. when rendering wmv or mpeg streams, only changed pixels / tiles are saved. These might corrupt by either ram problems or just because they arent updated often enough. You can avoid this by updating the whole screen more often - but the filesize will grow then

@Olin: I use VLC to watch videos and I've watched all XQ videos since DR3 and never experianced lag. At the rest of it I honestly don't understand..
