Ok, I got this virus some time ago, which causes some beeping sound to start when I start playing a game, and never stops until I quit the game, luckily it doesn't effect GTA. I got a friend of mine who is good at computers to try and help me out, and he's the one who found that the virus I have might be Netsky-D (something like that, not sure of the 100% exact name). Can anyone help me out, to get rid of this virus?
BTW, in case it's of any significance, the games it effects are as follows:
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast
Half-Life 2: Episode 1
(to make it short, pretty much all valve/steam games)
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
(I think those are the only games it effects)
Thanks for any help you can give me

Reinstall.
-
I've already tried reinstalling the games, did nothing, except delay the beeping sound a couple of minutes, until it was back again.
-
Uninstall. Back up ur files. Use a backup.
-
lol, that's what my friend told me to do

i think ur name sais it all......sigh....lmao

Sorry, something I forgot to mention. The virus doesn't only effect games, sometimes, when my computer is experiencing a terrible lag (which rarely happens), the beeping sound comes on. And also, rarely as well, sometimes while I'm browsing the net, the beeping comes on for no apparent reason.

It looks like beeping starts when mem usage is high. If anitivirus can't do anything, reinstall windows.
-
I'll try reinstalling it when I can

Beeping from your speakers or monitor?
Hmm I would say it's something overheating, as computers beep when they overheat. That said, it could be a virus masking itself as the beeping warning.
Go to Symantec Security Response (google that) and find the Netsky virus, they will have instructions on how to remove.

Scans came out clean?

Beeping from your speakers or monitor?
The beeping sound is coming from my computer, and is enhanced when I turn on the volume.
Brulla: I've used many virus scanners, they didn't find this virus though...

So stop using these free shit.

I don't use Norton, I quit with it aaaaages ago, it sucked too much, and slowed down my PC a lot!
And Link, I used Stinger one of the best scanners out of free and paid for (proabably the best, if not, definitely one of the top ones), it saved me from another scary virus, which froze my PC 5 mins after having it on, and I could only use already open programs, if I tried opening something new, it would freeze completely! Takes a long time to scan, but unfortunately the current versions don't seem to be able to delete this beeping virus.
-
Yeah people stop raggin on antivirus software lol most free ones are actually a lot better than some of the paid ones.
I'll do a search for this beeping virus for you mate.
-
Thanks I tried googling for the Symantec thingy, but I couldn't find the right link to follow to get the info about the virus, maybe I missed something?
-
Hmm well it used to be good but I just looked it isn't being helpful.
Add me on MSN man I'll help you out tonight. [email protected]
Also, try and find a program called Hijackthis Download that and I'll talk you through it online later.

It turns out it wasn't a virus, but my computer overheating.
Thanks Aries!! Now it'll be much easier to fix since I know what the problem is.
The beeping sound is gone, but if I uncheck something, it'll be back. So now I just gotta get someone to help me fix it completely
