This is completely safe, apparently.
- Type "about:config" in the address box
Scroll down and search for these things.
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally there's 1 request at a gate. if u set the maxrequest higher. it will download through more gates, and it will go faster.
Change it to these settings.
- put "network.http.pipelining " op "true"
- put "network.http.proxy.pipelining" op "true"
- put "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" On a numer like 20.
He wil do 20 request at a time ! so it's 20 times faster ! WOW!
- As last click New --> Integer
Give it the name "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and put the value on 0
-
Hmm... i read the same in a german forum, i'll try it out, i got a Script blocker for FF, so if it's a virus or something like that, it will be blocked.
//Edit: WTF? It's really faster and i don't got a message yet. So i gonna use that now.
-
Well, this works very good for slow internet connections. I don't notice it that much.
-
it works man...but I had to put it to 30 to make it as fast as I wanted.
-
meh seems abit faster
-
It is faster but does it qualify as overclocking your computer?
-
wooo opera has these settings as default... Make sure you also change the same settings for your networks card tcp interface... caue that.. will make the whole internet faster - games too etc (smaller ping)
you might want to change the mtu too - google around
VenomX: Nope. cant break your hardware - its only enabling more connections at once - though, most sites either block multiply requests or it crashes your firewall (only bad ones lol) and such..
-
Fox will anything happen if I change the "20" to say...like "100"?
-
Fox, tell us more about changing the tcp from our "networks card". How do we do that?
-
This is getting interesting, i need to subscribe on this thread,
-
Done... cant see a difference , ill try to dload something now.
-
i put mine on 100 its noticeable , since mine was on 4 before
-
Torque: Nope, it will only allow more connections at the same time - but remember that some providers dont like that - thats also why they hate p2p
Though, some servers need callback ports - windows has 1 opened port by default which cant be closed, when setting more connections using pipelining you might want to open up more ports (which is a security risk)
Torekk: A german tool is called like DFÜSpeed (Datenfernübertragungs-geschwindigkeit), its able to change these settings - though, be carefull with them. Tuneup also has such features - just google that stuff.
(Setting a higher MTU (Maximum transmision unit) will allow bigger packets to be send / received which means that your downloads get slightly faster, but also ping packets of games/transfers would be collected until a higher lenght for the packet is reached to reach the mtu which will make a higher ping and more timeouts). Also windows does have a maximum number of connections setting.
Then your hardware has a limit too - check the network tab in your system control and hit "configure" - in your internet/lan connection, in the advanced tab some hardware can be configured - other companys (like 3com) normally only allow that by flashing the chip (which could bring your card to the nirvana)
-
I put mine on 6666 now
-
Mines on 100 and theres definitely a difference, Fox whats the safest number for it to be on.
-
mines on 1024 connections and opened ports to 128
-
wow nice
-
Me like! Thanks for the lil guide there mate!
-
dam it works.. thanks
-
Thanks alot for this
Now someone make a tut on how to speed up games, dloading and everything
-
1. Buy a better PC.
2. Buy better internet.
Easy.

Easy.
why would you wanna do that when you can just make it faster for free in 30 seconds??
Free > J000!
-
This really doesn't have to do with GTA modding at all so I've moved it to the computer talk section.
-
Didn't I post it there? Whoops, apologies.
-
Haha, you beat me to it Torque.
Interesting thread guys.
-
Oh, and if anyone cares, I set mine to 1,000 and it was fine for a while, but then it broke FF...no webpages were loading. So I had to go back into it and set it to 30 again, and now its all working okay.
-
This is great, thanks a ton Venom
-
Mine's working fine at 400.
-
False alarm, turns out my dad kept unplugging the internet to install Skype .
And no problem bj.
-
I put it to 20 and havn't really noticed any change...mine's fast as fuck anyway...
-
Nice!
Now I just need a .torrent for a decent graphics card
-
WTF a torrent file for a graphic card ?
-

I think he's joking, Linkdk.
-
I love the loading-speed

Yeah, I was trying to anyway.
However, if anyone does have one it would be great.
