Hi guys.. I don't really have the time to post here but i was hoping that y'all can help me.. I'm looking for a processor for my new computer thats coming soon.. I was doing some research about it through the net and I came across something I liked.. But I can't make out head or tail for this.. Can you help me?
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
AM2/512KB/X2/2600MHz/2000MHz/Dual/89W
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
AM2/1MB/X2/2600MHz/2000MHz/Dual/89W
What exactly is the processor speed for both? If someone can explain what all that means, I'll be extremely grateful..
Thanks in advance..
-
Technically around 4.something, but AMD claim they run at around 5 lol
-
The AMD Athlon X2 5200+ is a 'lil bit better, it use 1MB cache, the other only 512KB, so it's a little bit faster.
-
Is the processor speed 5.2gHz (5200+)?
-
A tip of advice. Processor speed doesnt mean shit.
An Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86 GHz is better than that Athlon X2 5200+ at 4. whatever Ghz
Go for the Core 2's. Simple as that.
-
Dude.. AMD Athlon X2 series IS dual core.. It's AMD's equivalent to Intel's Core 2 Duo..
-
Dual cores are better then one core, no mather how good is it, lol.
-
BTW, A 4200+ processor can be overclocked to a 5000+...
-
^ tELL ME HOW TO FUCKING OVERCLOCK!
-
overclocking is stupid if you dont no what your doing , your pc could just melt
www.overclockers.com i think
-
You need a kick ass cooling system to overclock your comp.. Even then it's highly unstable..
-
They are booth running with 2.6 ghz but as torekk says the 5200+ has 1 mb cache so its better at the end.
-
Ohhh... Cool.. Thanks..
-
I want a duel core processor
-
Take mine, It sux.
*Attatches to boomerang, Wheeeeeeeeeeeee*

I want a duel core processor

"AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
AM2/512KB/X2/2600MHz/2000MHz/Dual/89W
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
AM2/1MB/X2/2600MHz/2000MHz/Dual/89W"
It says right there!!!! "2600MHz" thats 2.6GHz for both of the processors, the 5200+ is a bit faster though because its sporting the 1MB L2 cache VS the 512KB on the 5000+
clock speeds dont mean much...
Overclocking is not always unstable
I overclocked my Opteron 165 from 1.8GHz to 3.0, perfectly stable. Stock cooling too.
but my 1.8GHz opteron is still better than anyones 3.6Ghz Pentium 4
-
remember , your pc's only as fast as the slowist part
-
Core 2 Duo pwns the Athlon X2s hands down. But if your stuck with a AMD motherboard, than the 2nd option there is the best, has a bigger cache.
-
Why DOES the Core 2 Duo series pwn AMD anyway? Everybody says that.. But for me, AMD has a better value for money..
