Title: Need help with alpha mask
Post by: gesior7 on January 11, 2007, 01:46:57 PM
Hi!

I'm doing a movie in Sony Vegas. I recorded video clip. This is background. In the foreground i want to put a board with nick, so I rendered animated board and board's alpha. I have this three videoclips, and I don't know, how to mix board and background with alpha mask.

There (http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/1074/clip2zr4.jpg) is useful screen.

I think that you can get rid of the top one, and move the current bottom layer to the top.  Then press on the '!' or the sun thingy, can't remember, and play with the settings till it looks okay.  If this doesn't work, ask someone that has some idea.

That's like shooting birds with a rocket.
Remove the black background on the nicktag in Photoshop and put it on top.

It Doesnt work. The board looks transparently. I have to use alpha mask.

Save it without a background in Photoshop, save a psd and import that.

I'm gonna look for someone, who knows, how to do it in Sony Vegas. I've never worked in Photoshop. What movie format supports transparent background?
I cant save it in any other application. I made it with 3Ds max, and i cant import to Vegas whole scene with an camera and obiects of course. I think, alpha mask is necessary.

make a new image with transparent backgroun (New > New, set backgroudn to 'Transparent')

paste the image you made in and remove the color you dont want.

save it as a .psd and import this into vegas as the tag, it should be transparent now.

if not, PM me the image and i'll do it for ya

Do you mean, that I have to make all images for one animation?? If I,ll do for example 10 animations with 100 frames, then I have to make about 1000 transparent images? It's a lot of work.
Of course i can render all images separately, but then i'll have to place carefully all images on time axis and setup images duration to 1 frame.
It's not a good solution. :/

Finally I did it! Yeah!
Without any Photoshops, fireworks and othres unnecessary apps.
I'm gonna do a quick tutorial.

Thanks for your help, but user's manual was more helpful.
