Title: Registry Editor
Post by: CJD on January 05, 2007, 12:43:49 PM
I have heard over MSN that if you make a mistake in registry edit then your whole computer is gone and seeing as this is is bran new i would prefer that this didn't happen. I wanna delete ALL traces of Fraps from my computer because when you get a trial version then your computer stores it in the Reg edit and this may be what is stopping it running on my computer.

You cant delete all traces.. atleast not with regedit. otherwise you could re-enable all 30 day trials LAWL

and nope. its a rumor that the regedit can kill your whole pc. it can only ruin your windows installation. but booting with linux or windows cd is still possible so you can restore your system (in case you made backups)

I found a small tutorial on some site, whether it will help or not, I don't know.

In order to completely uninstall a program and remove all its tracks from the Registry, you have to uninstall it first, using Add/Remove Programs or the program's own Uninstall option. After you have done that, you can proceed to the first step

   1. Go to Start, Run, and type regedit.exe in the text box.
   2. First, create a backup of your registry. Go to File and choose "Export" ("Export Registry" on Windows 98 or Me). Save this file in C:\, naming it registry-backup, regbackup or something easy to remember.
   3. Now go to Edit, Find and type the program name in the search box, then press F3 to search.
   4. You will find various items with the name you typed in. As soon as you find one related to the program (you will have to make sure it is really related to the program, so that you don't break anything), delete it (press the Delete key). Press F3 to search for another item, and stop when there are no more items to remove.

It still wont work after spoof. Fraps is also atleast writing to the winini.ini - but i think it writes to about 500 files and adds atleast 50 regentrys.

Just install Fraps 2.4 or below or even better: buy fraps. i did it too once.
