Title: My PC restarts everytime
Post by: Greendead on December 18, 2006, 09:15:39 AM
It's so wierd. When I start SA, It restart. Sometimes I can play SA for a few minutes and it restarts. Few minutes ago I clicked on ''My Computer'', and it restarted. I clicked on Mozzila, it restarted. Wtf is wrong with my PC? I searched for viruses with AVG free edition, didn't find anything. It found some spywares, deleted them all. But this still happens. Any help would be appreciated

Check your reset button. Maybe you accidently keep hitting that button with your feet or chair out of exitement. Happened to me a few times.

I'm guessing your computer is overheating. Take the case off and get all the dust out, it used to happen to me.

That was pretty much what happened to me a while ago, you might have to reformat.

i doubt it is overheating...

Its most likely a problem with San Andreas or DirectX

Download the latest version of DirectX from microsofts website.
Download the newest video card drivers
Reinstall SA

thats what i would try.

Sounds like one of these problems..........PSU(power supply unit) Ram or overheating. Do you get a BSOD (blue screen of death)before it reboots? If you do, copy the big long error number and google it. If you don't get a BSOD you probably need to to disable the "automatically restart" feature in windows. It's in control panel........system.......advanced.......startup and recovery. It's checked "on" by default.

Dude, if it gets dust in it then it will block the fans and shit, it happened to me... and it's not like I left my comp for 5 years in a shed, the dust collected over a couple of months.

LMAO^

Seriously though, either your Processor has something seriously wrong with it, or it may not be set into its socket properly.  Or, your hard drive may have bad sectors.  This mainly would mean that the computer would constantly hang after a short period of time after being turned on.  The fact that it's rebooting is quite confusing though.  Most likely you have a problem where your GFX card may be demanding too much power from your PSU which could result in the rest of the system restarting as it's not recieving sufficiant power.  Mind giving me some of your system specs please?  It would help alot in troubleshooting your problem.

if your processor is not set right your PC will not boot at all...

however it is possible that he may not be getting enough power to his video card, i don't think that would restart it though.

You're more than right about the processor problem, i was only being optimistic.  But a lack of power to the graphics card when it requires it would cause for a restart as the rest of the machine gives up the will to go on.  Therefore everytime the GFX card requires more power than normal it would cause the machine to shut down and restart.
