I feel like a goddamn noob by asking this but meh, my PC has this wierdass problem
Ive been keeping my warcraft 3 cd in for 2 months now, i play regularly a few days ago the CD-rom just wouldnt open, i kept pressing the button n that but nothing happened. so i restarted the PC and it worked, i got the CD out (thank god) n then i thought that was that but now i see its starting to happen again, i got no E drive in My Computer (it used to be the cd/dvd drive), ive tried alot of stuff, hardware manager, rebooting, trying to open it manually to see what gives etc, nothing works.
Now i'm curious if this is hardware failure or is it because of this shit OS called Windows
i'd format c and reinstall but as you all know that takes alot of time to save my stuff and then re-install it back so i'd like to know for sure that its because of windows before i find a bootable win cd n reinstall
Or could the problem be hardware-related, my pc has warranty for 9 more days so hasty replies would be appreciated

Take off the cover of your PC and make sure it is plugged in tightly.

A new CD Drive?
-
A new CD Drive?
thankyou cap'n obvious
Kenny i'd do that but it's still in warranty, and its sealed, id have to go across town with it just for the guy to open it, thats why im asking, i wouldnt like to go there n everything to be allrite hardware-wise

Its your Cd drive.
It has nothing to do with your software.
Go to the store where you bought it and get it repaired
-
fuck fuck fuck fuckitty fuck fuck
-
hmm get the cd drive out.... and put it in but on other contact.. maybe theres no contact with the cd/drive...
-
cd drives are fucking cheap!!!!
i have 4 laying on the floor next to me
they dont really die that often though...
-
I had that problem too, dunno how I've made it works again, I just turned off the PC, went to bed and the next day, it worked!
lol :|

if your pc is still under warranty make the trip and see the shop about it. Alternatively open up the case void the warranty and make sure its plugged in properly if it is and still dosn't work grab a new drive they're so cheap now it's probably easier for you to buy a new drive and don't bother taking it back to the shop.

if your drive is beign deleted basically cant it be a trojan or viru spossibly ?
-
Meh, i know they are cheap, but i have a dvd now, and only way i was gonna upgrade was by buying a good dvd writer wich doesnt come cheap...not for me anyways
i say 'was' because now it magically started to work again ! YEAH!
dunno wtf was that about, my friend at school suggested that daemon tools or nero could have disabled it for one reason or another, then i come back from school and poof it works
-
Well once a cd exploded on my cd drive... lol

Yea I was going to suggest that. Daemon tools tends to fuck up your cd-drive totally. My brother still has his magically deleted even in the BIOS. Anyway, glad it worked out for ya. I hope it will stay that way

dude!!! its a driver problem, update your driver for your dvd/cd drive and it will work.....at least that's what fixed mine....
-
It cant be a driver problem, virus or whatever because a cd/dvd drive only needs the power cable to open.
