Title: High resolution 30fps
Post by: Brainkiller on November 11, 2006, 11:57:17 AM
This is a pretty obvious thing when you think about it

Why would I want to do this?
Here are the reasons:
- Renders a perfect 30FPS stunt video
- Allows you to use Anti Aliasing - as long as you can get more than 15fps doing that (if you where recording @ 30fps it would drop a lot)
- Allows you to record at an even high resolution (a lot better quality)
I can't get 30FPS recording Vice City @ 1024x768, but now I can record 1280x720 @ 15FPS and end up with the same result as if I renederd @ 30FPS.

Does your computer lag when recording with FRAPS? drops down to around 25 or even lower making the clips slower? well...

This tutorial will help you make a smooth 30fps recording with FRAPS... sort of, here is how:

1) Set FRAPS to record at 15fps.

Be sure to split and delete the first few seconds of the clip, if you don't do this the first couple of seconds of the clip will be faster than the rest, this is because when you start recording with FRAPS it drops from 30fps to 15fps, so it's recording at higher than 15fps untill it reaches constant 15fps

This is a very helpful tutorial, hope you guys thinks so aswell

NOTE: This can be done in WMM, Video effects > Speed up double.
The only problem is the first few seconds will be faster than normal  unless you can split clips in WMM, I don't even know if you can

Summary

You can't record in high res (1024x768 or maybe  800x600) because you get less than 30FPS recording making the clip laggy, using this method you will be able to record in 1024x768 or maybe even higher, this will make you record at half the speed Vice City runs at, changing the playback rate from 1.000 to 2.000 is increasing the speed by half, meaning it is the exact same speed as if you were recording at normal speed. Making your videos perfect speed and higher quality

Happy smooth, high quality video making

Is this method also with San Andreas working? Anyways, great tutorial!
SA's default fps is 25, so if you wanna try this method then put fraps to 12.5 fps.
Great tutorial BK.

I do almost the same for a bit of time. I use my special "Hook" (No more information here )  to set the gamespeed to 0.25 in reps - while framelimiter is at 10fps

this will make rep anims etc much smoother and you can record at 60 FPS which even allows you smooth videos at 25% speed

Nice idea, but I'll stick to my 25fps, AA off.
Title: High resolution 30fps
Post by: Brainkiller on November 12, 2006, 04:43:05 AM
Hiei... this helps if your clips are laggy, and even if you can record @ 1024x768 at 30FPS (25 SA) (but can't recod higher because you get less than 30FPS) (25 SA), why not record in an even higher res and use my method

15FPS VC or 12.5FS SA is half the speed of 30 or 25... playback rate is 1.000 so if you change it to 2.000 then it will be twice as fast... making it 30FPS or 25FPS.

I just have to say this: This method is awesome!

People have been asking me how I'm able to make so smooth and good-looking recordings, this method is the answer.
I would recommend every editor to use this, it makes it much easier to move the camera and especially the zoom function in replays.

It requires some practice and I would recommend you to use it together with the replay fix of NWP.live. When you've learned to move the camera smooth this way, you will be able to record much better than before.

Thought this needed some advertising.

I'll test this out though since I get crappy FPS in LC while using Daffy's 25fps one.

I can too, but I still use this method. It's much easier to zoom in and out and move the camera exactly how I want, when the speed only is 50%.

@Daffy:
I've tried yours too, but I think this method is better.

What did you expect, it's like that with all methods.

Though you should be possible to slow the clip down a little without any big problems, maybe you did something wrong. If you've seen my latest vid, "Outro", you could see 2.23 that slowing down clips (which are recorded with this method) doesn't look very bad. Actually the outcome is better than it would be with clips recorded with and at 30fps.

No he didn't.

And gt7, you have to put it in yourself. You see a lits from 25 to 60 FPS, and underneath that a blank field, there you put in 15 fps, and check the box in front of it.

The version he is using is 1.9d I presume which doesn't have the option to put whatever fps you want.

You can't do anything then  you need to hook up with someone on msn who can give you a better version of FRAPS.

That's because your brain gets used to 15 and then when you change it to 30 it looks a lot faster than normal cause you've been watching stuff in slow motion for a while, it's normal so keep editing and it'll feel normal after a while you little school-girl

I have to do this when I run sa with skins, set the resolution to 1600x1200,set anti aliasing to 3,effects to high and enb series on...when I set fraps to 25 it just records with 17-25 and is full of laggs...this is the best method to edit sa videos imo..
With 15 fps,10 fps or 5 fps...just brilliant trick and smooth vids
