Title: Brower problem
Post by: Fugitive on September 12, 2006, 07:55:49 AM
Greendead has a problem with internet. He asked me to post this here, because he can't. He can't open any website, not even google. Nothing! He tried to use FireFox, but it doesn't help too (he used IE) MSN is working and programs for downloading, only Internet browser isn't. Does anybody know, what could he do to fix this?

He tried to download something from gunner and this thing happened:

He'll might have to configure his connection manually. I believe his DNS adress has to get configured manually, I had a similar problem lately.

So, open Control Panel> Network connections, right click on his connection, open properties, scroll down to "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" and click properties. At the bottom, select "Obtain DNS adress automatically". Then enter his prefered and alternate DNS adress. Save it and close.

^^If MSN is working then that's probably not the solution.
Anyway..

Make sure there is no, or the proper, proxy-server set.
(check in browser preferences, connection settings or something)

He might also want to fill in an ip-address instead of using url's.
There might be a problem with his winsock. (not a joke)
You can download a winsockfix when you google it.
Google's ip is: 64.233.183.147

Oh yea, shut down all firewall's before you try. (at your own risk ofcourse)
