Okay, so here I'm going to tell you how to have excellent quality, speed, and fps. Sounds near impossible, but I have found a way.
This is NOT recommended for computers that cant handle playing SA/VC at 1280x980x16
Setting Fraps
Step 1: Okay, Open up your Fraps (version 5.0+). When you do this, go to the Movies tab.
Step 2: Look at the bottom left of your Fraps and you will (should) see something that you can check off that says No Sync. Check it.
Step 3: Change the quality to Half and not Full (trust me it doesnt make a difference in quality).
Step 4: Change the FPS to somewhere in between 23.80 - 25.50 (I have mine set at 23.97, different for all computers.)
Your done setting your fraps. Congrats.
In-Game Recording
Step 1: After you are done setting your Fraps, go into SA/VC and click Options > Display Setup > Advanced. Change it to 1280x980x16.
Step (2): If your using SA, go set your Visual FX Quality to Low.
Step 3: Start up SA/VC, get a rep and record it. It will now have excellent quality with awesome speed and fps.
I did invent this method of using Fraps.
Only downside: Cannot use WMV (Daf-Fy's rendering template for Vegas).
Cheers.

I kinda doubt the greatness off that but i'll try it out... with 30fps though.
-
can't, because my computer sucks :(

What do you mean 5.0?
-
Just get one with the No Sync and Half and Full quality option.
-
OK i think the latest version is 2.7.3....that's the one i got.
-
Perfect.
-
I;ve been using this method since I started, and yes, it does work. B)
-
I don't really see how this method will make my recordings any better, but I will absolutely try it.
Will write my results later.
-
Damn my crapp-shack computer
-
i think its basically for peoples who have some difficulties to record in good quality .
-
n000b question, where the hell are those buttons? I'm in movies with Fraps 2.7.3
-
Glad it works PlethZorb.
And to Burnout:

Any verification yet from people who werent already using it? or maybe an example of picture quality?
-
I dont have those 2 buttons, is your registered?

1280x980x16?

x32 does nothing in VC and just makes shadows in SA.

ok kool, i thought i was blind, id ask for a reggie version but id get warned
*cough*
-
I'd tell you that Daf-Fy! had it and is willing to give it to you but I'm not because I'd get warned. I'd also tell you that I can give you his msn to get Fraps but then I'd also get warned.
[div style=\"width=80%\" align=\"center\"] :P :P  :P :P
-
I'd tell you that I got his MSN a few minutes ago for editing help since I would'n't get warned, thanks for that info. ^_^
-
Hey Edd, send it over to me will ya, get on MSN.
-
I've tried it now, and I don't see any big difference. Though I'm going to use "Half-size" from now, because the "Full-size" setting doesn't even work.

Full-Size makes it 2x the size but no quality difference. I use Half Size because it saves me time in rendering in Vegas.
EDIT: and the reason it dont look diff for you is bcuz your comp already has ownage recordings. ;)
-
I gotta admit, this sounds a little too good to be true, will it make my recordings better even though my PC isn't that good? I mean the last time I tried to make a stunt vid on SA/VC it was like watching CCTV,I mean it was sooooo laggy. Will this change anything?
-
Ok fate unless you can help me, you fail. :P
Ok my VC speed is perfect, my computer speed is perfect. RIGHT when i press f9 my fps decreases so much, its so gay, help me. Your tut just makes it worse.

No, "full-size" isn't full size. It's like "half-size" (at least in my version of Fraps).
-
Full size records at whatever res your playing ingame, half size is half of the ingame res.

Yeah, that's how it should be, but Fraps isn't working like that. Try it and you'll see, it isn't possible to record in higher res than 640x480.
-
It's true.
-
I didn't see any "No Sync"...
-
Does that mean I can record at half size with like no difference?

You must either be using an unregistered version of fraps or fraps1.9d, because when i record at any res the clip comes out at that res. BTW im using a registered version of fraps 2.7.2.
-
OK...
Half-Size will make the resoloution of the clip half of what it was in game...
Full-Size will make the resoloution of the clip the same as what it was in game. BUT, any resoloution over (but not including) 1152x864 cannot be saved at full resoloution, and is halved.
This is true for versions above 2.64... and possibly lower. I have the newest fraps (thanks BK) and have also tried that. Same result.
I would recommend either setting your resoloution to 1024 x 768. Don't record at 1152 x 864, or your pixel aspect ratio will end up shit.
I know something you all don't know... I can't tell though so
-
I know that technique bj, Nightkid told it to Vert when he was still in.
To prove it.. *Cough* Settings on something in your computer.. *cough*
-
I figured all that out by myself I did ask Daff about recording above 1280x960 though, and he confirmed you can't record past 1152 x 864.
