Replays playing too fast...
« on: February 16, 2014, 04:41:14 AM »
Quite confusing... few days ago introduced my comeback, but i've noticed that my replays are playing too fast. At the beginning i want to admit that I'm not using any form of modding and cheating and even to be sure i installed the game again with just dannye included. As u guess proly, it didnt help...

With Sed i was measuring the times on the same runup etc. On the length of the ls airport i was about 2 secs faster (with tapping, not radding).

I'm thinking that the "thing" happened when i changed my pc in february last year, but i wasn't stunting so couldnt notice that. Replays recorded before that are playing right. I've heard that SA has some problems with 4 core cpus, so i was also trying to change the affinity in taskmr. With the usage of 1 core replays seems to be quite slower but proly still quite faster. I cant already assess cuz after a lot of tries i dont know the original speed -.-

Would be nice if somebody has met with that problem and know the solution, or at least the reason. I'm open for questions and testing.

use freeplay--> press space (unlock fps limit  in replay)> record replay on 10 fps> in vegas click  on clip (right mouse button) choose properties and change playbackrate on 2,500 :) maybe this help you :)

I'm not talking about recording. I'm just trying to solve why my replays are playing faster. I know that changing the fps/speed can make it look "normal" but there a reason why are these replays so fast.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/4y0wj7 - here is an example replay. Comparing to Sed's replays, attempting the same stunt, i made the runup over a 1s faster.

For me it's not a problem, i guess that for editors not a big too, but i just dont want to be called modder or whatever.

Well , uh you're talking about 1s or 2s of difference , i really don't see the problem there lol , i would understand if it was like really speeded up like x2 or even x3 but that's normal i think , it's only about your computer spec.
People wouldn't call that modding.
And anyway , just to see for real since you're saying you're run up is faster.
Record the time you take for the run up while you're radding/tappin in  LS airpoirt in live ( not in replay ) , just for example , we'd say you take 10 second to make all the airport then watch the replay to see if it's faster than 10sec or no.
If no then your replay is normal and it's just your computer spec that make you faster OR it means you have a handling with the bike faster.
Also if you have high fps , like 120-130 ( actually what i do have now ) it's normal that you'll go faster than other people.

I've checked those speeds already. I'm not sure now cuz of the quantity of tests, but i think the replays were moving faster than live. I know that the difference is small, but in stunts with  really short runup, many flips etc it looks really weird. U proly see on the replay posted above that it's not normal. However, thank u for the replies. I guess there is nothing more to do with that.

This is the worst part of SA stunting. Replays are shit and FPS doesn't matter, PC specs does. I've got +100 stable fps and yet my replays are fucked up by random speed up's. I don't think there will be ever any fix for that. I'm stunting on vsync on (60 fps) the whole time since 2009, if you don't care that much about FPS then I recommend you to do the same, replays are normal when stunting on 60 fps.

Oh and you are right, your replays are indeed messed up. You sent me some stunts from 2010 for my leftover collab and they were perfect, but you sent me one more from 2014 and it was really fast. It's the same problem that I have (and a lot of other stunters).

Was trying to check that but can't get 60fps even after setting gpu to run with vsync. How did u get that? Or is just my card stupid? -.-

In NVIDIA control panel. There should be some other ways though, you may find something on google.

The FPS the replay was saved at determine it's (replaying) speed. Low FPS result in fast replays, while high FPS result in slow replays. Locked FPS like FL ON (25) or Vsync (60) make replays smoother as the limitation prevents them from being so choppy. Choppy jumps occur due to varying FPS. FL OFF replays will always lead to slower and more choppy replays (hence the always existing modding suspense about FL OFF stunts).

You guys probably just have different FPS in-game. I remember having an issue with a replay years ago which had massive replaying speed problems (PhysiX' BMX stunt in Course, a collab I edited in 2008). It was like twice as fast as it was meant to be and I am almost sure it was also a Vsync ON/OFF issue that fixed it.

Actually im stunting on fps over 100, up to about 140, with every setting maxed but my replays are faster, so i quite dont understand your thoughts. I have some problems with setting the vsync on, although setting that in amd control panel (yes, i have amd card) it doesnt change in-game. I will look later for another way.

You can download "ultrathing" mod for GTA SA. it's a mod that lets you turn on / off some special graphic stuff, like blow, reflection (don't worry, you can turn if off ingame if you don't like them) and also window mode. When playing in window mode the fps will be locked at 60 fps.

Had the same problem in 2011, my replays looked floaty and I was told by my mates, too. That time I had approximately 60-80 fps, so not that much. But later the problem was somehow solved and my reps were ok again.
So I can't really give any tips, just wanted you to know that I had the same problem, too. Anyway good luck solving it.  :P

Additionally to this, if you can evenly divide your FPS by 25fps, then you'll get a much smoother replay. For instance, 75fps results in a smoother replay than 60fps.
