Title: Recording on the PSP
Post by: JayFoxRox on August 20, 2007, 10:38:49 AM
No, this is not about the GIF Module for the devhook, neither for the cheat-device. This is about: Remotejoy!

when i heard about Remotejoy first i was like: rahh that wont work or lag the psp..
BUT:

it didnt even start... Yes its been for the custom firmwares only, but i liked to stick with my 1.5 debug fw
So what i did was trying. I tested alot in which order the prx must be loaded etc.

in the end i came to this setup:

Code: [Select]
...
/kd/devhook.prx #DEVHOOK
/kd/umdciso.prx #DEVHOOK
ms0:/seplugins/usbhostfs.prx #REMOTEJOY
ms0:/seplugins/psplink.prx #REMOTEJOY
$/kd/isofs.prx
ms0:/seplugins/remotejoy.prx #REMOTEJOY
...

(I tried loading VCS Cheat-Device after and before, but couldnt get it to work... - might be a psplink problem)

However: with that setup i was able to launch THUG 2 Remix running at full FPS on PSP and 30 fps on pc via USB!

So now for the tutorial (DevHook 0.52 / Firmware 1.5):

- First make sure you download the archive i attached to the post.
- Copy the "SEPlugins" directory to your memorystick root
- Copy the other directory and files to your Computer-Harddisk which is your cmd-base (To find your cmd-base just use "Start -> Execute" and type "cmd in the field", a drive letter will appear, make sure you copy to that partition)
- On your PSP memorystick navigate to ms0:/dh
- Now open your firmware folder:

2.71 = 271
...
3.03 = 303
...
3.11 = 311 << thats my case

- Then open the "CFG" directory and look for "pspbtcnf_game_dh.txt"
- Hold down left shift and right click the file, now use "Open with -> Select application"
- From the list select "Wordpad-MFC-Application"
- Find the line:

Code: [Select]
/kd/devhook.prx #DEVHOOK
/kd/umdciso.prx #DEVHOOK

and add the lines:

Code: [Select]
ms0:/seplugins/usbhostfs.prx #REMOTEJOY
ms0:/seplugins/psplink.prx #REMOTEJOY

after it

- Find the line:

Code: [Select]
$/kd/isofs.prx
and add the line:

Code: [Select]
ms0:/seplugins/remotejoy.prx #REMOTEJOY

after it

- Now go boot your PSP in the firmware you modified using devhook and launch a game of your choice (in my test, using a real UMD gave MUCH better fps than using an iso)
- Optional set CPU to 333 mhz to get max fps
- After the psp part is done, launch "Start-USBHostFS_PC.bat" by double clicking it
- It should say: "Connected to Device", if it does not do this, you probably need to install the drivers, to do this, wait for the window of the "hardware installer", just click "I want to select the driver on my own", in the next step, select "Look at this location for the driver" and select the "Driver" directory from the attachment (subdirectory: 32 bit = "driver"; 64 bit = "driver_x64")
- When the device is connected, double click "Start-RemoteJoy.bat"
- Optional right click the file and edit it before launching it and select the command line parameters:

-s | show framerate (F9)
-c | full color mode (F3)
-l | half size mode (F4)
-f | fullscreen

- Now you can use your favorite screen recorder to capture the action (Fraps wont work cause its an SDL window)! (Hit F10 for a screenshot btw)
- Optional: you could also use an audio cable to sync your psp audio output with your pc by plugging one side into the psp, and the other half in the line-in port of your PC. Its also possible to remap your gamepad keys so you can control your psp using your gamepad, you can also use the keyboard to control your psp but it didnt work out very well for me..

Sorry OE users... A tutorial for this might come in the future, however: it should work to just add psplink.prx and usbhost_fs.prx to your game.txt and copying "SEPlugins" - its worth a try...

Framerates:

Small section so we know which games work well and which not..

GTA - Vice City Stories
Firmware: 3.03
Type: ISO
FPS: ~7

Tony Hawks Underground 2 Remix
Firmware: 3.03
Type: UMD
FPS: ~30

[attachment=6023:RemoteJoySDL.zip]

(RemoteJoy was made by "TyRaNiD 2k6" all credits go to him! The files were downloaded from the ps2dev.org svn and repacked for easier usage by me!)

I think about rewriting this btw and adding pictures, this was rushed down... would be nice to have some comments anyways. (And please try to report about your framerates  (Game & Type (UMD / ISO / NET) &  FW (CE / Orig / OE / Version)
