Title: 10+ years of GTAS!
Post by: JL on September 19, 2014, 06:03:19 AM

Hey there everyone! GTAS has been around for over a decade now and i think everybody kinda forgot to make note of that. If anybody knows the exact date of creation of this forum, shoot please. A lot of stuff has happened in that decade and this place went through many phases. After all, i'm very glad this community still exists and i'd like to make a nice editoral blog post about everyone's favorite moments, events and especially video releases.

What made you join the community, which videos do you remember the most, what inspired you to stunt and what do you like about this commmunity?

Tell us all about it in this topic!

10 years! :a-cheer:

CONGRATULATIONS!

I started stunting when i had my playstion 2 and bought san andreas because i saw the video with darkness and keneda that was an awesome time, Also when i started stunting on pc i didnt know about framelimiter ( Pretty funny ) also starting to stunt on singeplayer but didnt find this intresting because i could not save and load so thats why i playd samp way more. After i got to hear about danyes main scm that ptrvy told me about i started installing it and started stunting on pc.

I guess the first and important thing to say in the blog article is the people who was all this years working to make this alive, like AJ Collings, Daffy, Simon, this guys always are making good job and helping everyone. Watch stunting videos and make stunts is a quite 'easy' thing, but behind all the funny and cool things are the organization and hard job.

Of course in all this years people maked memorable and legendary videos, like Hachi said, but show for new people (like me) how this forum become so big and gorgeous is a thing that i would love to know. The first stunters, very first videos, guys like Bearot an professional videomaker who created three classic SA videos and disappeared.

The evolution of stunting is being faster year by year, only five years ago people was stunting with FL ON and cabbie stunts like Grescha's finisher from Ubiquity were impossible to imagine, icons like Barney, Makramme, Daffy, MtS, talk about this kind of stuff would be cool :)

Sorry, but I reckon that's not entirely true, FL OFF was quite the norm in SA in 2008 already (I know as I joined in March of that same year).

Anyways, the videos that got me into GTAStunting were, ironically, pretty much all in VC: WH's Doperide III (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7_Ml_55-Kk) and Neuralgia (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzOI2kJ-SPI), Daffy's Post Mortem (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1pWGQ28uio) and Dannye & Brulla's Tandem (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb1GDL7xvyE) for standouts. Since I was mostly involved with SA from the beginning, if I had to name the most groundbreaking SA video I seen while here, that'd definitely be Onslaught (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKYRbUzIRtI), it kind of extremely moved the barrier of what's expected from an awesome SA video. The videos I'm most proud of (as productions I was involved in) may be found in my signature: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqIjcnoNXVY) (my best of), dv's excellencE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKVsPbdrP4g), The Emergency II (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2U3BFRVzsps) and Memento (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7Fb9XuzmXA). And my personal favourites would be Backstage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFDiW4DbMVo), Aproxxage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MAiCBhfDpk) and Two Takes It (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNbfOuIvnO4).

Hope this gives at least some useful material :)

There's already a collaboration being set up regarding this! Sign up, yo!

Man, how this started; I began up in SA-MP doing those regular stunts with a friend, approximately 8 years ago (2005-2006). After a while, I began scrolling around GTA-WorldMods (modding community) where I found the first German community video Breath of A Nation; where I got first introduced to GTAStunting. And to word it up, that video still holds me up as it introduced me to who I call a some-what distant role model Cold Death. After a while, got into some small time bits of stunting (I was called PKDR4G0N back then ). GTAS simply taught me a lot - not just in media or gaming technology, but diversity, world views, and what so.

Honestly, without this place - a lot of what I did wouldn't of been accomplished (outside the gaming views). I should remember that I keep in mind the usual bunch like Salyn, NoLimit andMugetsu (though we stopped talking a bit). People like Cold Death, Kr3mlin and such has really inspired my daily life activities and thoughts - I must say. I can never forget the joy I'd get when I did something here and the love I got from many people from this community. Participating in a collaboration in itself was something for myself, or even editing a video for someone else's career improvement. It became much of something that I began adding my expression of emotion and my art of mind into the hidden messages within these bike lifting videos. A place I call home, that is.

A happy 10th year anniversary GTAS, keep up the unusual please!

First off, Nice blog and I love the pic you made JL  :a-cheer:

It all started for me in late 2005 when I was searching stuff about gta sa for pc, somehow I found gtas and I was hooked in. The very first video I remember watching was a ps2 video by Master Yayo, and a solo called "back in Black"(Tackleberry/kert duo I think) At the time I had a pc (not mine)that wouldn't run any games so I bought my own specifically for stunting on GTA SA,playing SA-MP and MTA.

Although there are so many ground breaking videos from so many different stunters over the years, these stand out the most for me. I stay mostly in the SA section, so not many VC vids I can name. If any of you youngsters have not seen any of these video, I highly recommend you do ;)

1. SA Smackdown (Darkness & Kaneda)
2. As One Again (XSA/TMS)
3. Onslaught (TMS)
4. Impure (XSA)
5. Wergild (GLS)
6.Trial by Fire (ATS)(VC)
7. Illusions (TMS)
8. Never Gonna Stop (Kert & Tackleberry duo)
9. Chapter XXIII (TMS)
10. New Blood (TMS)
11. Out of Reach (TMS)
12. Techjam (TMS (VC)

Ok, I have more but that's all I'm going to share or I will end up posting every TMS vid made :p

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY GTAS!!!  :euro:

The first GTA-community i joined was GTA-worldmods.de on there i would meet people like MFox and Aschratt with whom i'd do some easy stunts on SA:MP like bumping onto wang cars.  Also KillaMarci and ColdDeath were hanging around on that forum and after a while stunting even got it's own sub-forum there. It wasn't until that point i'd learn about GTAS which "shocked" me at the time because i couldn't imagine there was such a big community about something that seemed so minor to me at that time.

The first proper stunting video i watched was As One Again and it blew my mind, made me join this place. I made my first solo with the lovely editing-help of BoBsaget and worked my up into XSA with a shitty audition. I joined XSA about the same time as godamit did, but never starred in any video, because i quickly switched over to WH as an editor (fun fact: never got to edit a single vid) after releasing Watch This! together with taz. :)

Most memorable vids for me:

1) AOA
2) SA Smackdown
3) Touch of a Samurai
4) Unorthodox
5) TMS Techjam
6) Nitzkit in general

Been here since Sept 2006, and I remember the whole day too. Watching Fugitive's GTA SA stunting tutorials lol. I just hate that I am not a very active person. I never made a video, and all my attempts got turnt down on collabs. Regardless, this was my 2nd online community I ever joined. I love coming here to know that there are dedicated GTA fans unlike the ones on GTAForums.

i started stunting since the end of 2010 , after saw ATS's video . I'm interested how it's possible in this game , thought it's just some mods until i really get into it and start practice some basic stunts and found GTAS though i was pretty busy with others game in that time so it took me until September 2011 to join this community , my favourite stunters in that time was guys like Barney , Nitzkit , Kaneda , etc . Alot of cool guys here and great editors like Beat , Herr'dav is the inspiration for my editing career , I started enjoy making videos and read people's review about my videos and very happy when people like them . This place is where made me today and i hope it will still grow .
Braindead
Barney's Monolith
Memento
Trial by Fire
REBELLION
Fracture
Aetas
They are one of my favourite videos .

the first time i saw stuntvideos was in 2007 or 2008 i think. i wasnt even on youtube at this time, only on the german "myvideo", which is like youtube, but in german :D (i have no idea if other countries know this website). i watched some XxFlorixX Extreme Stunting Revolution (ESR) videos and i was totally fascinated. i started stunting because of XxFlorixX and his crew, which only had german stunters in it i think. i dont know why, but it fascinated me more than anything else i ever saw in my life, when it comes to computerrelated stuff. i did the san andreas walkthrough like 20 times on ps2 with hundreds of hours playing before i even knew stunting.

as many of you too (possibly) i tried stunting on ps2 after those ESR videos shocked me, and it turned out that stunting (especially grinding) was so fucking hard. i think this was the thing that motivated me to keep going, because i noticed that if you want to get better, you will get better.

after some first solos and duos with my reallife mate "Spike", or as he is called now, Atlas, i somehow found out that there are even community-pages for this strange hobby. (i only got to know stunting through myvideo at this point.) so i joined the german stuntingsite gtastunting.de, which is dead today i think. the first stuntvideo i watched on youtube was that kaneda and darkness thing i guess, and like the second one i ever saw on YT was onslaught. oh my fucking god. words cant describe how i was feeling.

and then it all started, better solos, better skills, and now i am finally in the best stunting crew ever after years of practice, which always was a dream of mine.

i guess that i played Gta San Andreas for like 15000 hours in my life and this game never bored me. it is my favorite game for ever.

it may be a negative thing, but i think there is nothing on this world (until now) which motivates me more than stunting. (atleast computer-related)

i will stay on this page as long as i can, even if i am the last and only one being active in the end.  :)

I joined in late 2007. It was my second cousin who got me to join, he showed me a few videos. The day I joined was the day Daffy released his SA solo, I remember watching it in awe and thinking holy shit this person is good. However, I mostly kept to myself because I wouldn't want to come of as a noob to the talented individuals that roamed here, so I waited, learned basics and set out to make a solo. a bit more than 6 months after I joined my solo was out and people really enjoyed it, after that I got invited to a crew and that's when I started getting friends on here, became more active and posted more. I really looked up to TMS and XSA members. Favorite vids at the time was AOA and Aero

In late 2008 I moved from SA to VC as a main game. After being friends with RedX for a while he invited me to his VC crew knowing I was shit as VC, he was just like "You'll learn!". And from there on out VC has been the thing. I also started watching a lot of VC videos at that time, and quickly Connected became an instant favorite, along with Xtramus - Always. And on days when I don't even feel like stunting I'll open VC, just to see if I can find a spot, if not stunt it. It's become quite a habit  :ninja:

Then there's this website. I don't think it's been a day since I've joined where I haven't checked it or thought about checking it. I made it so it automatically opens when I open chrome and it's one of those tabs I never close. Even though people have their differences I still love this community because no matter what the difference in opinion we all just want to enjoy the same thing.

GTAStunting .net started out as The Ampt Stunting forums, on or about Feb. 2004.
The site was created by Andyroososoft. We would host our stunt videos on TGA (The Gamers Alliance)
which was run by Bloodymess. There were barely 100 members when I joined the community.

Below is a capture of the forums as they were when I first joined.

Sometime in the summer of 04 the banner changed to this.

Just before the end of 04 we again had another banner change to this.

And in Aril 05 The Ampt Stunting Forums finally became GTAStunting.com with this banner.

The video that got me addicted to stunting, yes pun intended, was Decans Auto Stunt Reel.

Decans Auto Stunt Reel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xYEFJGLcik#)
Even though the video used car mods, it was the bike stunts that hooked me. At the time
I only had VC on the PS2 but managed to start making my own stunt vids to share with the community.
It was a great time, those early days of stunting, very few people had discovered stunting
and VC had endless possiblities.

The feels are strong :jajaja:. I've got a lot of "history" on these forums, but the videos that really got me into stunting were SA Smackdown, and TMS/XSA in San Andreas. I also really enjoyed watching ATS, and Nitzkit's solos in Vice City. One the the first VC solos to truly blow me away was Double Jeopardy 2 by Neo/Kaneda.

Double Jeopardy 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78NCCN-WpsA#)

I still think about this video when it comes to editing from time to time :D.

Although it doesn't say "Veteran Member" under my name, I've been watching these forums for 8 years.  Jet stunts were never a focus here, thus I've said very little over time.  I always knew this website would stick around.  Heartfelt effort and healthy competition have resulted in this website's well-deserved success.  When you think of stunting, you think of this website.  Period.

I believe this website's greatest strength is in its members.  You guys care about the details, the stunts themselves, and their presentation.  You are living guidelines!

well i discovered pro stunting like in late 2008, and i started trying in ps2, then i got my pc and later in 2010 i started to stunt more seriously, met my SFH friends, Ltab, Ale, Metalsoad and much more. After that i started using the forum and met more people and well, the same shit over and over  I think i enjoy stunting more than the actual GTA, trying spots its just so fun (and even more living the moment of landing a stunt, too bad its so short), and sometimes even if you landed that stunt you keep trying because well..its fucking fun.

Cheers to the past, present and the next generation of stunters ;D

I think I briefly went over this in the radio show I did with Promagic but I'll extend it out.

So I got a Sony PSP along with a copy of Liberty City Stories for Christmas 2005; I cant remember how but I eventually ended up registering on GTAForums, probably to get mission help or something. Anyway, I found out about Cheatdevice which amongst other things let you record stunts from LCS to .gif format. At the same time, there were a small number of LCS videos coming out, most notably the video Rancid by UTS (Untold Skill). Some of the names that spring to mind from that time were Eichorn, Master Yayo, Onyx, Shadowsniper and Juan. If I remember correctly, around that time I also watched some VC videos, the ones that I can distinctly remember are; ATS Mut8tion, TOAS, GVT - Evolution, BBB  and probably a few others but I didn't have my own PC at the time. I think I ended up registering on GTAStunters (anyone remember that site?) before GTAS, and eventually joined here in July 06.

I pretty much shitposted for a year so if anyone remembers that I have no excuse other than the fact I was 10 and thought I was king of the internet. Being 10/11 I also didn't have the attention span or dedication to sit and land stunts. I discovered the Access Stunt Shop topic and it blew my mind, I think I probably asked for every bike posted. Started making my own bikes around that time (06/07, if anyone wants pictures I have some of them saved) and preferred it to stunting. Pretty much just done the same shit since then, made bikes and occasionally sent stunts out but I'd like to think I've improved since 07 :cc_detective:

As for memorable moments on the forums, I'd say the release of both Connected and Interlocked were pretty huge. I wasn't the only guy who's mind was blown when the font that said Connected lined up with the sun in the intro of the video right? I Got Tempbanned By Valikai Once For Typing In All Caps Like I'm Currently doing, I thought that was pretty funny at the time. What else can I remember? erm, that time godson stole BK's stunt for Connected and sparked a massive argument, boxXx being a secret racist, that time Feron made this video:

Dedicated to THEFTman (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LvOTmmWSww#)

As for my favourite or standout videos, there's too many so I'll try and keep this short: Aetas, TOAS, Mut8tion by ATS, Evolution by GVT, Dedicated, Geronimo/Doperide 2/3 /Bad Company/Neuralgia/everything else by WH, Hypokryts, DeathCobra's best of, Progression by Slim, Watch This, Connected, Adaptation by VR, Unorthodox/everything Barney has ever made, Blood Stream/Blood Stream 2, Calculating Infinity, Spiengraph/404, Narcolepsy by Brandon6199, Fuckrat, Desekration, IndoctrinatioN/Nibiru, Digging Up The Corpses, Double Jeopardy 2, The Getaway 2/Any other themed video Neo/Kaneda have made, Techjam/Merry ChrisTMS/TMS by TMS, GTASL2/3 Videos, the Skyward series, Insomnia by USS, Amped/Amped 2, Quake 2, any video involving Simon/Max/Xtramus, Year One/Year two by Tackleberry, shit I was meant to keep this short

Made a bunch of great friends on here over the years too, too many to list but you're all rad. Anyway theres my GTAS life story, I hope it helps  :ajaja:

My brother gave me San Andreas on PS2 for my birthday in 2008 and I recalled seeing some SAMP stuff from YouTube before so I looked up for them again and relanded some of the easiest stunts in skatepark area on SA.

I joined on temp forums somewhere in 2009 after seeing Recollection VC/LC duo between Kaneda and Darkness. I looked up GTAStunting but it was down that time, so I searched some more videos saw Fugitive's shit. He was somewhat active that time so I pm'd him on YouTube asking where should I sign up to talk about collabs and stuff like that and he gave me temp forum link.

I was so fucking stupid back then. I modded shit loads and I was an asshole teenager of 14-15 year old. So that was the "good time" for me.

awesome screens caps Neo.

@ Trialz - we were gonna try once a long time ago but it is now at the bottom of the ocean...BUT you could help start a new non bike collab :) Seaways was a dope example of that.

 ;D

Congrats!

Too many great videos to name them all but each of them are awesome just in the sense that people had enough enthusiasm to stunt and make videos time after time. From dedicated solos, to just plain fun 24 time videos, to epic community videos that represent stunters from all over the world.

That was the first thing i wanted to do for the intro in connected, like have all the ships and boats coming in from all sides in VC/LC and then just a fuck ton of pcjs and cars that ppl got on waiting. The idea of connected for me was that, there were so many different ppl in age, country, etc but we all were stunters. I dialed it back down a bit and tried to capture that in a more succinct way, and Kaneda made that kickass intro happen. I just wanted to hear as many pcj's roar that could be scripted.

Some of my best friends i met and still see from time to time were from university, and we just ended up being in the same hall in our dorm. We were all different types of gamers, but we loved gaming so i met Bloodymess and he was an IT guy and liked to fuck with games. I saw him modding the handling files in GTA LC so his pcj would have 1000000 mass and other cars would just fly off him into the air. I thought that was best fucking thing in the world. I liked games, but than seeing how you could modify settings and play it right then and there.

long story short, Bloody had a dream, we started TGA, and then he was a coder for MTA. Got into stunting from playing in the servers and seeing the SM clan do some vids. Than came across andypoo's site. and it just kept going........things that pop in my head....i remember GVT uploading a video to TGA, and Bloody and I were like, hmm some russians uploaded a video....then we watched were like FUCK YEA lol. .....So many videos. alot of good memories. alot of great ppl i've come to know................

but yea, still awesome to see it going. I remember hearing how VC/LC was all dry, yet ppl keep fishing new spots.

Thanks GTAS  ;D

Good and never seen before pictures Neo, thanks for sharing it, it was great to see how this place evolved in the beginning
Anyway, as many of the stunters, I got to know about stunting when I first saw Smackdown. I remember I and my friend wanted to make something similar (well, basically remake those stunts) and we didn't know how to, we thought of recording ourselves with camera while stunting
Then I started to play SAMP around end of 2007, was in some noob clans too where I had really serious stunt wars! In 2008 I found the server Hydra Madness (this name may tell something to a lot of veterans), later Sampage. I got to know there some hungarian stunters like Pmarci and Jackob but sadly I could not keep in touch with them. I spent 2009 with playing SAMP and with silly sawn off fights, but I enjoyed them so no worries.  In the second half of this year I had already started to stick around stunting again, I remember asking Sajtos everytime about little stuff and of course the WH video, after Onslaught as everyone I myself was so excited about the upcoming video, Megaton. Well, it didn't disappoint. In early 2010 I went back to stunting for real, this time in single player and I released a solo with old stunts only, I didn' t think of landing new ones back then. After that I accidentally but so fortunately met Jackob on a random server and added him on MSN. After then it went well and I was getting to know more and more stunters, especially hungarian ones. Then it took me long months to land some acceptable and finally NEW stunts. Probably my first serious appearance was in The Emergency II when Petar invited me, no matter if it was a public collab. Since then I've become friend with a lot of guys here.
I just really regret not sticking to stunting back in 2008, I would have arrived here like 2 years earlier and wouldn't have missed the very best time of stunting. Most admired videos of mine would be Onslaught and Megaton for sure, Chapter XXIII and some more TMS/XSA videos as I didn't really check VC ones. Most important guys of my career would definitely be Jackob and Pmarci, but basically all hungarian stunters, other than that Petar for sure, and Daffy, too.
